OH OH ME ME!

Was ok, not that impressed. Battle scene's were good.

Still could have used to a few more scenes cut. I don't wanna ruin it for the rest of you. I thought the 2nd was the best out of the 3, maybe the first can't remember.

GLAD I saw the MATINEE, kids were linning up like crazy when I left. . .

Actually I would bet alot of those who will reply to the post were standing in those lines....

.....Thoughts?

I haven't seen the US version of the Ring but I have seen the original Japanese version of it.
There were basically 5 Japanese versions....and I saw them all...
I think that number 2 was the best...

Planning to watch it next weekend, this weekend is going to be packed for sure.

Simon, I think you got the wrong movie in mind, we are talking about the Lord of the Rings, not the horror movie the Ring, or the original Japanese version, Ringu. I did not know that there are 5 different versions of Ringu, though. You should catch the US version, I really liked it.

Its a good movie but it was long. Out of the three the second movie was the best.

I haven't seen it yet.

But people who are big fans of J.R.R.T.'s work could never say a Lord Of The Rings movie is too long! LOL. Most of the time they are moaning and complaning because too much is left out!

Yup.....I thought that it was that horror movie:o :o ....I thought that they had a second one up...
I've seen previews of the US version one...and it wasn't a bit as scary as the Japanese version...infact I thought that it sucked compared to the Jap version...

Well I haven't seen Lord of the Rings. I am waiting to go see it soon~
Only seen the first two...and loved number 2...so hopefully I'll love number 3 too~

I saw it the first showing Wednesday morning... It was really good. My favorite is either the first or the third... probably the first.

I don't know what the heck you're talking about! The second was the best? Not by a long shot! You crazy SOB. jk

I saw it last night...I bought my tickets three weeks before and then had to line up last night. I really don't like standing in line but the movie was worth it.

I feel the same way that I felt right after seeing the first two movies. I liked it, I'm in shock from finally seeing it but I'm torn because so much has changed from the books. I have been a huge fan of the books since I was little and every change that Peter Jackson made is hard to swallow at first.

But, like the other films, I will grow to love it much more as time goes by. I really need to see it a few more times to take it all in. I probably will not see it again for a few months though.

Changes and all...this movie is still very, very good.

It rocked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The battle scenes were intense, the story was great and the humor was A1:D As far as a favorite........since they all are leading to one point I don't think I could say one was better than another. They were all different and all very good. Can't wait for the trilogy to come out:D:D:D:D:D:D:D I will definatelt be going again to take in anything I may have missed....oh, and to the big guy who waits until he can watch it on DVD what the heck? You don't miss out on the big screen action with movies like this?...that's just wrong Tim!:D Shame on you!

If any of you want more just check out the Silmorillian (There's no way I spelled that correctly). It's basically a history of Middle Earth. There's a short version of the formentioned book and then there's the giant 12 volume version.

HAHAH i havent been to the theatre for a movie in years.

But i figure a big screen tv and complete surround sound cranked up all the way is good enough for me.

It was a great movie and it was a great ending to a series.
The effects were out of this world and unreal.
The only thing that sucks is u have to sit on those seats in the theatres. And it was for about 3 and a half hrs.
Highly recommend seeing the movie..., but if u can wait to see it at ur house I recommend that....

Long...? HA!

Try getting convinced(drugged, beaten and stuffed in a sack, whatever...) into going to a back-to-back-to-back opening night showings of the EXTENDED versions of the first 2, followed by the 3rd. ADD to that the fact that despite getting there 45 minutes early, we were were stuck in the FIRST damn row!!!

Big fan of the movies, but I don't like Opening Nights all that much. The parts of the movie that were in the 20'X20' area directly in front of me were great though, I'll check it out sometime soon once the crowds die down a bit to see the 'rest' of the film. The battle of Pelennor Fields is amazing though.

Hmm....big screen and surround sound eh? But then you miss out on all the teenie boppers and their relentless "Oh my God he's so hot!" comments EVERY TIME LAGOLAS(sp) appears on the screen!:D And I do mean every single time lol I'll cut you slack this time Tim, but truely nothing beats the theater for movies like these.

I thought it was good, the only thing that bugged me was the ending, they could have done so much better with that ending...

And the fact that it took an hour and a half for the action to actually pick up the pace, but once it did........wow!

My fav is the first one.

Big Mike
12-19-03, 01:58 PM
What part of the ending bugged you? I liked the ending, especially the last line...same as in the books. Although there were a few things that bugged me too.

lol .... Troy is comming out soon as well with brad pitt :) It looks really good. I dont think it is the hair or the ears, it is the cool way he can take an arrow stab someone in the eye with it pluck it out then shoot someone else with the same arrow! ;) Now thats a REAL MAN

I saw it last night. No lines, because we showed up a bit late. Theatre was already filled. You know the rest.....

All in all it was a great ending to some great movies. When I first heard the Fellowship was coming out, I just hoped that it would be good enough. After Return..it was. Great fight scenes....battles were damn great. Really liked the Smegal intro, way cool. It was worth the rude folks in front of me and the pricey ticket price.

I went and saw it for the second time the other night, and it was the worst theater experience I ever had. Halfway through the movie, these 3 kids come walking in, talking and laughing, they proceed to walk to the very front of the large, packed theater, talking amongst themselves loudly and talking to people in the audience. They sit down for no more than a minute, then one kid comes tromping back up, stopping to talk loudly to some other kids. The whole theater tells him to shutup, and he tells us to kiss his a** and then he leaves the room. Five minutes later, he comes in by himself just laughing real loud and then he literally yells, HEY JAKE, WHERE ARE YA?" to the front of the theater. Again, the entire theater tells him to shut-up. He started cussing again, and obnoxiously walked up front again, laughing and having a good time. At this point, several people got up and left to get the manager.

And then he got kicked out. hehe.

After that, in one of the saddest parts of the movie, these girls directly behind me started laughing and didnt stop until the movie was over. GRRR! I hate loud people in movies!

Anyways, thats my vent. :)

As for the movie itself? Awesome! Peter Jackson outdid himself. The only thing I missed was the hobbit war at the end. Although really, that would have added at least another hour, which would have been fine with me, but probably not for the masses.

We have the big screen and surround sound... 52" and 350 watts just doesn't compare to the giant screen and sound system in the theater. There are few movies i'm willing to pay $20 for (there are two of us) but the LOTR series is one of them.

Other films that were must see on the big screen were ones like spiderman, xmen 1 and 2. stuff like spideman and lotr take advantage of the great effects a huge screen gives you. you just don't get the awe from the scenery that lotr gives you on a tv. and you don't get the motion sickness from spidey swinging from building to building. the battles instead of being thousands of men are thousands of ants on a tv. and unless you have wide screen you just end up missing bits here and there, also the definition just isn't as good on a tv.

Dittoes to what Lisa says. Widescreen is so much better than 4:3. The latter cuts out so much of the picture. I wont even rent a movie anymore if its not widescreen. Have you ever compared the two? If not, take a widescreen picture, cut it into 4 even sections, then take the middle two, and that is pretty close to what a 4:3 ratio gives ya.

I saw it around a week ago and it was amazing! I don't know if I liked the 2nd one or 3rd one best, but I don't remember the 1st or 2nd ones too well. I read the 1st book and half the 2nd book a while ago. Does anyone know if someone's going to make a movie out of the book the Hobbit?

BTW. Sunrunner, I heard the spider was made by a Canadian company.
