My brother's roommate had a Green vine snake or Green tree snake? It was about a foot long and very slender. Now, I know nothing about snakes. But yesterday it died. Am I in the right forum to ask some questions about this snake. If not please direct me to the appropriate forum.
Thanks,
Garrett

It's probably a colubrid so right forum but I can't help you with a reason for why the snake died. You can try giving more information about how the snake was kept and people can guess what might have been the cause. I don't know if that will make you or your brother feel any better though. Losing a pet and not knowing if you did something wrong is a terrible feeling. The only way to know for sure though is to take the snake to a reptile vet for a necropsy. If your brother has other snakes, he should be very careful in his hygiene in case what ever killed the first snake is contagious (wouldn't be contagious to people most likely so don't worry about that).
If it was a Green Vine (Opheodryus aestivus) aka Rough Green Snake, then it was noone's fault. Chances are it was a WC and most of them don't do well. Here a few reasons for fatalities. Heavy parasite load, non-feeder, increased stress in captivity which could relate to parasitism and non feeding. They are a pretty "special" snake as in they require proper humidity, different diets (not even crickets) and some even say UV lighting. In other words, a fragile snake.

did your brothers room mate know how to care for it before he got it because these snakes are quite difficult in captivity
