There are two basic forms of parasites, those that are external, and those that are internel.
Common external parasites could be either mites and ticks. Both will feed on the blood of their host. Mites are more commonly seen on snakes in collections, yet both could be possible. Mites are controlled by use of several different means. Usually common remedies are the use of certain oils, soap soakings and repellants. Ticks can be pulled off, but also can pass pathogens on to the host. They also can be removed with soaps and oils, etc etc.
Internal parasites would be a few 'worms' commonly seen in herps, such as hookworms. A fecal floatation exam is nessecary to know if a specimen would have them. The most common remedy is the use of dewormers such as Panacur (Fenbendazole as its active ingredient.), which is done usually with two doses weekly (SIW).
A vet check-up is a good idea for any parasite infestation. A vet would be able to diagnose what is hosting and what remedies to give.
