Hey guys I just got a new baby blood python from Grant at Port Credit Pets, it seems this little guy is really scared and hasnt moved much in his cage since i put him in there. I was just wondering if you guys had any tips on getting him acclimatized and how to go about the first feeding. This is my new baby so i want to start him off rite and let him grow !! ...thanks

I'd give him a week or so to settle in before feeding. Also give him a few hide boxes. Give him some time and he should settle in without a problem.

Yeah im just constantly worried about baby snakes but ill be sure to give him more than one option of hide spot. The tank is in pretty good shape for temps and humidity from all the info ive gotten, but thanks for the advice....does anyone know how commom RI's are in blood python and how to make sure they dont get them. Alot of other posts ask about how to get rid of them but how are they obtained ?

Bloods aren't very active snakes so I wouldn't worry too much about that. Bloods seem to get hit pretty hard with RI when they do. As with any species, make sure his enclosure isn't filthy, temps and humidity are correct and that they stay that way. That is the best defense against an RI.
Rubbermaids are the way to go for housing babies as well. Tanks are better left for fishies ;)
