I went to White Rose today to look at plants for Chesters future enclosure. I ended up buying a Arborcola Bush................anyone heard of them or know if they are safe for chameleons?......I haven't used it with him yet, I wanted to make sure its safe first but I can't find it listed anywhere................

Thanks,

Sue:confused:

It's a Schefflera is it not? If it is, then it's fine to use in a chameleon cage.

Yeah, I can totally visualize that! LOL!

Does the pot have one of those tags in it? Usually the latin name is listed on it and that's how I search the toxic and non-toxic plant lists. Common names are too generalized sometimes.

Unfortunately it doesn't list any other name. Usually they have those little cards that tell you about the care of the plant (are those the ones you're talking about?), but all this one had was a sticker on the side with a partial name, I had to get the full name off the receipt. Maybe the kept the care cards for the plants that weren't on sale.............LOL.

Oh I went to Home Depot to get a small spray mister thingy........they insisted that they only carry them in the summer. I basically told them I could almost guarantee that they had some put away in the off season stock and could someone go look for me.............they said No............crappy employees with no concept of retail customer relations................so I left the store with no mister bottle and quite pissed..............

Is this what you got? http://groups.msn.com/ChameleonParadise/umbrellatree.msnw If it is, then you are good to go with Chester the Molester.

I had the same problem as you when I went to buy a mister in the off season. UGH! I found my 4 gallon (or whatever it is) pump sprayer at White Rose although it was a bit of a fight trying to get someone to go to the back and retrieve one. Since you've only got one chameleon, you could always go to the dollar store in buy a cheap-o hand mister in the interim.

Hope this helps.

Yes, I would say you have a dwarf Umbrella tree. They make a great live plant for chameleons (some have reserves about using them with Veileds). One of the nice things is the roots can handle being wet all the time like the pothos plant but unlike the pothos the Umbrella is a tree not a vine. Makes a good choice for placing a dripper on.

You should be able to find the hand pump pressure sprayers in the chemical department of the store. The same things used for plants are used for spraying chemicals to kill bugs. Hope this helps!

Thanks for all the help guys. I do think my plant is a dwarf umbrella. For the misters, so far we have checked, White Rose, Walmart, Canadian Tire and Home Depot, with no luck..............ahhhhhhhhh, its enough to drive you crazy!....lol

I think I should broaden my search to the other departments. Much like most pet stores, the emplyees are useless that I have dealt with......................uuugghhhhh.........
