i dont know photography, so please bare with me.
i have a choice between a fuji finepix f601 zoom or a 4800 zoom for significantly less then retail prices.
the 601 has a higher megapizel, 3.1 i believe and the 4800 has something like 2.4....this all means diddly to me...lol
im just wondering which oine would be better for taking pictures mainly of herps inside.
any advice or review websites would be appreciated.
unfortunately, i dont know how to read camera stats, so i am unable to tell which one can take better close ups, etc...
thanks for any help.

I would go with higher pixelage Grant. Sharper pics.

First off you cant just look at the mega pix and say get the higher one cause more is bitter. If the camera has a crap lens all you are going to get is higher resulution crap:). Its more than just the megapix tou have to look at the whole camera.
That said here a review of each camera. I'ld say the 601 wins cause its newer. They are a lot the same in many ways. If you are just taking pictures to post on the web go with the cheaper one IMO because you will just have to resize you're pictures any. If there is not much difference in price take the 601.
Any way you can read the reviews and decide for yourself

Grant...this is the mother of all camera websites...this is the one that the mfg's all use and give them cameras to test. Pick the ones that you are looking at by clicking on camera on the left..then it will go into crazy details...youll be reading for hours if you want. :) http://www.dpreview.com/
Apologies as I do not know those cameras individually. By the sounds of it, it seemed like they were both the same make too.
