View Full Version : Are foliage plants ok?
Hello all,
I have a foliage plant and have heard that most tropical plants are ok for kingsnakes due to the fact they do not eat them like other herps. This is a picture of a foliage plant which would be suitable for my terrarium and is heavy enough for my king to climb on. What do you think? I do not want to put it in until i know it is ok.
Thanks

its fine. I found those plants kind of "brittle", they snap faily easy.

Its called variagated pepperomia. Its a type of succulent and yes it does break very easily, especially if you forget to water it once or twice. Other than that, they do quite well in a terrarium. If your humidity is up, the plant will start to produce roots all the way up it's stem.

Thanks WM, I didn't realize it was a succulent. I will try it out and see what happens. Thanks for your help

I have no idea what your cage size is and therefor whether you'll be keeping potted plants or planted plants.
But I think you'd be better off with a small woody stemmed shrub like ilex or something.
You can keep them pruned rather small and shape them. They'll also be much sturdier.
Good Luck

Hello all. My name is Paul and I'm new to this site. I was wondering if anyone has a list of foliage that is safe for Kings and Corns? I'm in the same predicament, I have an Ivy plant that I'd like to put in with my king, but I'm not sure if it is safe? Its a Glacial Ivy plant. Thanks.
