:( i've got some sort of mites in my mealworms
from what ive read they come from the oats or bran
problem is how to get rid of them or do i halve to will they do any harm to the other worms or my lizards

mites...?if that was me.. i would just kill them mealies too or something.. i wouldnt really want to risk it..

if ya mean little white buggies especially on the carrots in with the mealies i got them too so if ya find a way to get rid of em let me know but so far they dont seem to be hurting any thing.

the spiricles(?)(breathing apperatus) of the mealies should allow for you to put them in a container with water, dump the feed, and recover the mealies without any/much loss while the mites/flour bugs (maybe) are left to drown

Grain mites are harmless (really jsut a pain to the keeper) and can spread quite quickly (they dont jsut stay where the mealies/substrate are). But they also die quickly. To prevent these little guys from invading your home you just need to keep moisture in the substrate to a minimum and change substrate from time to time.

agreed Linds, I forgot to mention that substrate gets tossed outside (burned if your fun) and fresh replaced. Leaving a vegy on the substrate will remoisten it and restart the problem if you not carefull
