Could anyone explain stargazing to me? I've heard people refer to it, but don't really understand what it looks like or anything else about it for that matter. Any info will be appreciated!

Stargazing is when you are looking at the stars in the sky. It looks like someone looking to the sky.

Is this a serious question?

Stargazing is a neurological problem that causes the muscles in the back of the neck to stay contracted. The head is drawn upwards so it looks as though the animal is constantly staring at the sky. It can be caused by viruses, B vitamin deficiencies, toxins, head injury, or a neuromuscular disease.

Thanks eyespy! Is it just the snake's head that is angled upward, or part of the neck as well? Is there any way of treating it?

It depends on the severity of the condition as to whether it's just the head or the entire neck that is out of position. It depends on the cause as to whether it's treatable. A few viruses respond to antiviral meds such as acyclovir. B vitamin shots can totally reverse stargazing if it was just a simple thiamine or riboflavin shortage. Strong IV flushing, activated charcoal or a toxin-specific antidote can sometimes reduce or reverse a toxin-induced stargaze. But for most viruses, head injuries or neuromuscular diseases it's a lifelong condition that is sometimes fatal.

Isn't stargazing also related to IBD (Inclusion Body Disease) or as people refer to it "Snake Aids". Mark I.

Yes, that's one of the viruses that can cause it, although iridovirus and paramyxovirus are more common causes.
