I just wanted to ask everyone if they think that my enclosures for each tank are adequet..ive read on several websites about information and i just wanted to make sure i wasnt making any mistakes..i know people here are more educated on there herps then most the websites out there. thanks :)

i have a uromastyx in a tank with about 1 inch of sand, 2 hides on both sides of the tank and a dish where i put his food. The basking spot is 120, warm side 90ish and cool side 85

my russian tortoise is in a tank with a mix of cocunut bark(or bed a beast i think) and sand mixed together. Hides on both sides and a food dish. Water dish placed in and out every other day so that it doesnt get to humid. hot spot is 100-105 and the warm side is about 90. The cool side is about 80-84.

My ball python is in a 15 gal with mulch bedding. two hides on both sides and a large water dish for him to soak. Hot side is 100 and the cool side is 85-88

are those ok??

Turn that heat down on the bp! Their hot side should only be 95 degree's MAX. 90-95 degree's hot side, and 75-80 degrees cool side! I can't answer on anything else though.

The temps might also be on the high side for the Russian tort, especially if not given access to water every day. Hot side should be around 90-95 and cool side about 75.

Your Uro sounds Great. You should not need a water dish as if you are giving your uro a proper diet it should get all its moisture from its food. If your cage is 3ish feet long and at least one food wide(asumming its fullgrown) then its great. The ball python, i have to agree is TOO hot, the warm end should be 85-90 and the cool end about 75-80, closer to 80. I know nothing about tortoises

How big is your BP that it fits in a 15 gallon?

the bp is about 1.5 feet long..still a baby. I just brought the heat down and its at around 88-90..thats better now. For the tortoise can i just offer him water everyday and leave those temps or should i change the bulb causs i cant get it down by making it higher..it already pretty high

my uro is not full grown..probably not even sub adult. He is in a tank that is 2.5 feet long and 14 inches wide. good?

Sure, your tort can have water every day. Just keep it on the cool side and if the humidity climbs above 55% leaving it in all day, just offer it for a few hours.

If you are using an incandescent bulb a dimmer switch on the fixture will let you dial down the temps a few degrees, or you could spend a bit more to get a rheostat and have better control. Bulbs that aren't burning full strength tend to last much longer as the filaments aren't heating up as much as they normally would. But if it's a mercury vapor bulb those can't be dimmed. It would be preferable to lower the temps because it can take a while for an animal with such a slow metabolism to realize he's dehydrated and dehydration in torts is much harder to reverse than with snakes and lizards.

ok so right now i have a 100 watt bulb but the tank is like 1.5 feet high so it gives me the temps i have...ill try maybe a 75 watt

I don't think he mentioned anywhere he had a water dish for his Uro, so I am assuming he didn't put one in there.

Uro's MUST NOT have a water dish in their enclosure.Just clarifying this.
