Well I never was happy with the original setup, I had my Vietnamese Blue Beauty in. So I whipped this up over the weekend. A 55 gallon plexi tank on its side with guillotine style plexi doors, vented, and heated with an 11x11 exoterra. Kato definitely settled into his new digs very fast.

Thanks folks,
Kato has adjusted very nicely to his new home
Trevor:
Nothing really complicated. the tank is a Hagen 55 gal tall plexiglass, the holes in the top were capped off by using the sliders doors. Doors are 1/4" plexi, while the tracks were made using 3/8" plexi and then capped with a slightly larger piece of 1/4" plexi. the small gap of 1/8" at the top of the door was filled in using a strip of high density rubber foam weatherstripping. It works like a charm. The tank was drilled at both ends for good air flow and the temp gradient spans a 20 degree range. The temp probe was routed outside the tank to eliminate the wires so just the thermometer and the probe are actually inside the tank. The tank was then screwed into place so that the stand and tank become one unit, but can be separated if necessary. Of course lots of hides for security and thermoregulating are in place and a large water dish at the back. The dish at the front is for his food as he will only eat from a dish, go figure. Humidity is hovering nicely are 55-60%.
Cheers

Wow - that is very impressive. Thanks for the inspiration (and the directions) may have to try that out with some tanks we have.

Ok J-Man, I'll expand on Classic's response to your question. Kato is a 5.5' long Vietnamese Blue Beauty. ;)
