i was thinking bout reptiles.. as usual.. and i was just wondering what are defining qualities that separate geckos from other lizards. and if someone could give me the kingdom, phylum, class, order, family of a gecko.. i'm guessing tail dropping is one of the qualities. if neone wants to use this thread to ask other taxonomy lizard questions feel free.. just wonderin

You should check out Global Gecko Association's site if your looking for taxonomic info, its pretty good.

nice. that page has a good detail of sub groups. i found a general one at

http://www.ycc.ac.uk/yc/SCIENCE/biology/classification/classifying_cilla.htm

however that site said leopard geckos could climb vertical surfaces but i'll trust the taxonomy:
Kingdom: Animalia
Phylum: Chordata
subPhylum: Vertebrata
Class: Reptilia
Order: Squamata
subOrder: Sauria
infraOrder: Gekkota
Family: Gekonidae
subFamily: Eublepharinae
Genus: Eublepharis
Species: Eublepharis Macularis

now i'll just have to memorize it..

Now just do the same for 10,000 other sp and you'll be on your way to a degree in herpetology! Keep it up, its always good to know what you're talking about.

Leos can climb vert if there's enough texture to the surface.

*groan* and i was planning on minoring herpetology in college. good thing i take latin... as if it helps much.. but i guess i'm willing to memorize, most of it will be logic once i memorize what classes there are. yeah i just remembered when my leo climbed vert up my shirt.. i guess i was just thinking bout like glass and trees and stuff..
