My friend has a ball python that has been making a sort of wheezing sound (kind of like when your nose whistles). It doesn't do it all the time, mainly when he has her out and lets her roam a bit. Any ideas as to what this could be and how to go about fixing it. I told him to try raising the temp in her cage a bit but it hasn't done anything. I was thinking it may be a respiratory infection but if my memory serves well there is usually a mucus build up of some sort isn't there?

The whistling is probably being cause by extra mucous that you just can't see. If raising the temps won't do the trick, then the snake will need to see a vet for some meds.

You may also want to make sure its nostrils arn't blocked up by old sheds or foreign objects. if theres any old shed or anything in there, it will definately make a whistling sound.

I heard mine doing this today, I have put more air holes in his viv just incase (I'm not sure what that should do though lol) I know the air flow wasn't too good. I havn't heard him doing it before, so I'll wait a day or two to see if he is still doing it. From the glimpse I had to his mouth everything looked clean and he did just have a very bad shed.

I checked my bp again yesterday and the wheezing has stopped! Weird. :)
