A friend was wondering what I was doing when he seen me feed a half F/T xl rat to a snake...I do it all the time to the smaller snakes(boas) until they can take the xl rat...I cut theF/T XL rat in half and I sew, with a little thread, the halfs so it is not messy. I sew the legs together so the snake isn't confused to what side to start with...no problem...PS you got to warm the thing up a bit as you would anyway....IT IS MESSY FOR SURE BUT I HAVE A FREEZER FULL OF XL RATS...whats a guy to do

Do you have anyone near you who needs them? You could trade for the size you need. Just sounds like too much trouble to go through. BUt I guess to each his/her own!

I say you put all your X-large rats in a blender then create smaller frozen rats using some sort of mold.

LOL

hahaha you know what's funny, my boyfriend said that the reason Mcdonalds can put "100% all beef burgers" on their burgers is because they buy from a meat company called "100% all beef"

LMAO

Charlie, don't you any fears of what the thread will do inside the snake? Maybe tie itself around an organ? Always wondered....

The amount of thread is so small I never had a problem...the snakes fed half rats were eating med rats anyways...besides think of what the snake eats normally...claws..hair...bone...and it is in it's digestive track

BAHAHAHAHA!

I don't think I'd like my snake ingesting anything but rodents...

I've actually heard of people routinely using dental floss to tie together multiple rodents to make one larger meal. I would've thought it would present a problem such as getting tangled in the organs, but apparently it passes fine.
