Hey everyone.. Im Jay....i have a Baby bearded Dragon and a 7 month old Loepard gecko.

My biggest problem is that now for almost 2 weeks my Leopard Gecko isnt eating anyhting...he wont do anything but sleep. He hasnt eaten, his tain wasnt all that big to start off with and now its just become really thin.

If anyone knows anyhitng and can help me with it please leave me a message back!

I would check the temp, he should have a hot spot and a cooler spot. If the temp is right, then it could be the food size that isn't ok or could be parasites. Are you usind an under tank heat pad? If not, it's the best for leopard geckos, if you have one, check to make sure it works. You could also put a light on top of the uth (wattage depends on the hight of your aquarium)

If you can get a stool sample done, it would be a good thing. I do some every 6 to 8 months since we got a contamination last summer, never again!

I wish I could offer better advice but your leo sounds in really bad shape and needs some vetenary attention.

I would guess that it's some form of parasite that is causing the lack of appetite and rapid weight loss. How long have you had this leo???

Try force feeding some baby food to get your gecko eating something right away. Then get it to a vet's ASAP with a stool sample (if possible) to get checked over.

Good luck,
Pixie

yes maybe boosting the heat will work and a stool sample would be good to be safe. my male leo wouldnt eat for a little while so i just took him out of his enclosure and rubbed a mealie or two and a crix on his snout and he gulped it right down.

good luck and keep us updated!

Your Gecko wouldn't be like this if it had enough heat, both day and night. Use an overhead 60 watt bulb all day, and then a
50 watt infrared overhead and under the tank heater at night, all at separate ends. The daytime temp should be at least 85F
at the hot end and 75F at the cool end of the tank.

Make sure you have a humid hide and dry hide, and keep the hide
with the UTH half on it and half off so the Leo can decide where to go and thermoregulate.

If it has parasites, usually these took over because of heat deficiencies or poor diet. Do you feed your crickets well?
Oranges and Kale greens with Flukers cricket gut load as well?
Thats one key. The better the crickets are fed, the better you are feeding your leo.

What about calcium. Do you keep an open saucer of calcium powder in the tank, or dip the crickets in calcium every week prior to feeding?

Hope your Leo gets better. Just realize they are very easy to keep well, if you do the above. Buy a book too and learn more.
The Leopard Gecko Manual by Tremper etc is a good one.

If it has parasites administer Panacur orally. See your vet.

Hope this information will help you get it better.

what are you currently feeding it? every leo is different just like every person is different (one of mine will not eat crickets if its life depended on it while my other will hunt a cricket down across an entire rubbermaid). some leos prefer different bugs. i would try out different food items. options: mealworms, superworms, silkworms, crickets; items only to be fed ONCE A MONTH OR LESS (due to extremely high fat content): butter worms, wax worms, pinkie mice.

and yeah temp is a good idea to check. they need about 83 degrees F to properly digest things. and get your leo on paper towel/newspaper substrate if u havent already. goodluck with your leo!! keep us updated

Butterworms are only 5% fat by volume and can be fed at will. They may look like waxworms but have nowhere near the high fat content they do.

You can also try soaking your gecko in lukewarm water to see if increased hydration will stimulate his appetite.
