what does polyurathane smell like when it off gasses?

Ok, I used rust-oleum (it's red) (sp?) protective enamel coating the first time. That wouldn't stop off gassing. so we stripped it best we could and put polyurathane on it...there is still red on there from the enamel..the polyurathane is offgassing and it smells the same as when the enamel was off gasing! I am about ready to just throw this thing away.

How long should polyurathane off gass? I have the UTH on it now. And before then it still smelled a LITTLE like the aquarium sealant (vinegar smell) now it smells like the enamel offgassing!!! :( :(

any advice would be great...

Ok, I opened the cage to let it air out and now it smells like when we opened the polyurathane can........is this normal (sorry I'm being overly paranoid. Right now we just want to get this done!)? if so how long will it off gas like this?

for a week or so....but it must be open to the air....put a fan blowing over the top ...that should do...

top? I could probably put a fan in there. It is a front opening cage with holes drilled into the sides near the top....like the 5 on a dice....
It does seem to be doing MUCH better.........But we will see. If this don't work, then it's about $200 (U.S.D) out the window, because we really don't have the patience to deal with this right now...........
