I'm not really into birds, but that is beautiful! I love the blue colouration!

Beautiful bird!

There's a falconry centre near us, and the girl who looks after the birds just takes them into local woods for exercise as they're being trained - I think it's so cool... taking your bird for a walk.

I love it when they fly really close to you, you really get a sense of the skill and power they have.

Definitely something I wish I had time/money/energy to get into... ah well, one day.

That is so awesome!! I thought about getting into falconry. When I get my own place I'll get a few peregrines and kestrels. Very very cool!!

Why not do both? I do. There is a long post I did on it some time ago here. Should still have a pic there.. Maybe. Id show some pics of my redtails but I recently fixed my computer and lost everything. So I will post more pictures of my hawks and owl soone enough. It is great fun, and after you become a master you can start playing with eagles.. That's gonna be a thrill. Good luck,
Xain

they are fun, I got to work with many while doing rescue work. My personal favorite was a great horned owl I got to keep for over a year. All of them are great though, except for after dinner clean-up lol

Wow! There's a lot of people into falconry in here...i would've never guessed.

I myself am not a big fan of birds, but that one looks really nice, cool eyes.

Great picture. I see them everyday here at work. It is cool when they chase other birds away from the airfield. Here is a link to the company that keeps our air field clear of wild life.

anybody know of any good sites to read up on this??? I know I can do a search but I just want to know if there were any in particular that were good.

I've always had an interest in hawks and eagles... never really gave much thought to owning one though.

Not being permitted, yes. All birds of prey are federally protected as far as I know. Xain

Mark,

I am totally with you~
if I ever give up herping (which I don't even see coming) I'll be keeping one of those too...they are absolutely stunning. I would love to keep one of these. Amazing animals~
