not with rice and veggies ofcourse, just plain un salted sushi...

Sushi, by definition, is seasoned vinegar rice and fish. The correct term you are looking for is sashimi.

Yea you want sashimi, its raw fish. I'd assume you could feed it to your monitor but I would not try it.

they eat fish in the wild, and should be no problem - and I am not sure about V. niloticus, but V. indicus blows the salt out of its nose, and I think V. niloticus does too, so salk may not hurt it much....make sure it has lots of clean water to drink/soak!

i eat raw fish all the time... never knew they call it "sashimi" is that japanese?

Try to feed freshwater fish if possible. Fillets are a better idea. Try smelt as well. Saltwater fish can carry harmful protozoa. Even whole freshwater fish can. The fillets lessen the chance of introduction of parasites. Actually the main diet of Niles in the wild consists of rodents, insects, birds, eggs including crocodilian, fish(mostly scavenged), carrrion, lizards,frogs,turtles, (and their eggs), snakes and not the last but, particularly land snails.(Giant African) Careful about feeding snails due to some of the same parasite transfers. Oddly enough I've had both my Monitors and Tegus try to eat many things that would definately be bad for them! LOL's Just a short list: paper towels, mulch, whisk brooms, dust pans, cage hooks, light bulbs, plastic bags etc. etc. LOL's Ray G. HBR

Sashimi is flash frozen to kill all parisites that could possibly be in it.Its safe for humans it will be fine for anything else that wants to eat it.Course your reptile probably wouldnt want the lemon juice or wasabi or soy sauce that usually goes with it :)

Monitors are like 12 month kids. Don't put small parts in the cage:). Stick with just feeding fish. I'm just wondering, why sushi?
