Found him....thank goodness.

We were trying out a new container, which apparantly is not escape proof. But, the container was in an enclosure. Upon first look I couldn't find him, then I looked harder after a frantic search around the room, he was in the enclosure, ontop of an off light fixture...curled up so small it was hard to see him :)

wow thats good when u say ontop of an off light fixture do u mean u keep ur lights inside the cage becasue that can be really dangerous for snakes because even if it is on they'll still curl up on it and can get life threaten burns if your not there to shut it off or take him/her off even if it haen;t happened yet it eventually will so my suggestion would be to get a clip on lamp or one u can put on the other side of the lid where ur corn can't get at it. that way she'll/he'll be nice and happy and burn free:)
good luck
rock on:D

Thanks Nicky. Actually, the snake is in a plastic tub, inside a beardie enclosure for the moment ( while I set up it's permanent home ). The enclosure has a fluorescent fixture inside for my beardies UV....but it wasn't on.

Good tip tho :)

Good thing that you have found it already

More corn snakes are lost every year, than any other snake.
Those little guys can get out the smallest crack, and unlike many snakes, they often are never found.
I've even lost them out the vent holes, so make sure the holes are tiny if you burn them with a soldering iron
There is only one type of small container I trust and that is the shoebox rubbermaids, with the snap on lid. I've used dozens of those for years and they will hold in corn snakes
Forget about any other size or makes. The sterilite ones and other cheaper types are never to be trusted, unless they have very tight seals.
Remember when the lights go out, corns will go around and around the rim of any encloure, and if they can squeeze between the lip and lid, they will be gone.
