skin cancer especially to albinos cause they dont have dark melenin (sp).. well atleast he got to pass his genes in the pool and almost double the life expectancy of a gorilla.. r.i.p

Now Wait, with the 22 Hets as you say. Assuming they would be 100% Hets right? Would they be able to produce an albino.. or not?

I think they would definitly be able to produce an albino but I am uncertain on if the zoo would interbreed family members like that. I am not sure if thats normal for gorillas or not or what.

In the wild, male gorillas are forced out of the family group before they hit sexual maturity and go either solo or in bachelor groups, so I don't think they have any natural inclination towards inbreeding. International gorilla registries forbid breeding of animals more closely related than second cousin, although I wonder if an exception might be made to try and preserve the albinism gene?

I have my doubts that they would being Gorillas are critically endangered, which Im sure they want to have the purest possible genes of this Genus. I dont think a mutation would change anyones mind on corrupting bloodlines..
Well, good thing these guys aren't in the pet trade..
