Heating a rubbermaid

Hi all,

I am trying to set up my 25L rubbermaid for my new ball python that I will hopefully be getting soon, but I can't get the "cool" end to stay warm enough. I am using a heat pad under the rubbermaid and can get the warm end to be pretty consistantly at 90 degrees, but the old end is only around 70 degrees! I have the heat pad under half the rubbermaid but it still doesn't heat the enclosure enough to keep the cool side a good temperature. Any suggestions? I have it in my bedroom, and if I turn the heat up in my room any higher than the warm end is too warm...not sure what to do.

put the warm end on a controller and turn up the heat in your bedroom.:)

well the heat pad does have 3 settings and I have it on the highest one, but if I turn the heat up in my bedroom much more I won't be able to sleep in it LOL.

But I'll give it a try and see if it's bearable or not

got balls, are you using sunbeam human heating pads? if so, depending on how big your rubbermaid is to the size of the heating pad (i have a kingsize) put the entire rubbermaid on the heating pad..but then put a cloth or something over the ''cool end'' of the heating pad thats what i did and i have a gradient of 88-90 to 75-80. but if the heatpad isn't big enough then i don't know. it should be fine as it is

yeah I have the dunlop pad.. same thing as the sunbeam only cheaper...wal-mart was suprisingly expensive, although Jeff was saying he might sell me one of the ones he bought for cheaper...anways.. that was a good idea, I'll try that and see how it goes.

My advice to you is return the heat pad and pick up 2 feet of heat tape. It works much better, and in my experiences, tends to heat up everything around it.

ok, I tried with the cloth and it worked. it's around 89 at the hot end and 80 at the cool end. Does that sound good?
