Hi everybody, i'm new at this so i'm just curious if its a good, bad idea to put in a male with a female while she's in her shed cycle? Please tell me what ya think.
Thanks, Colin:D

They breed in a shed, they breed out of a shed, they breed at 75F, they breed at 95F. It reall doesn't effect it too much. Actually, you have to shoot these things to have them NOT breed.
The only thing I would worry about is if they are in a state of ecdysis and sometimes they don't want to be messed with. You should know YOUR snake, or at the very least, be able to read its "mood". If it just wants to sit and chill, then let it. If its in the blue, yet out "exploring" or doing things other than "chilling", then try it.
Reality: it can't hurt your snake in the short term.
** I use the " " marks around terms that are there for lack of a better term.
Here's a pic from last month when I was just messing around (November Ball breedings mean NOTHING to me). The male was in a shed so I went to move him back to his cage and he was locked up with this female. He stayed locked up the whole time. The picture is of the day of his shed. Only his head has been shed off, and the rest of the body came off in one piece later that day. He stayed locked up for 36 more hours and that was it.

The same female has subsequently ovulated and is now in her pre-lay shed (almost).

P.S. BOTH snakes were in a shed. Its not a huge deal is the point I am trying to make.

Thanks for making that very clear Jeff. I assumed that it could'nt hurt, so during that period i figured i'd give it a try. And no luck.
But for the past 42 hours she's been "hooked up" and still goin strong...so with any luck i might get my first clutch this year.
Thanks again for the replys!!

May the force be with you Colin! Keep feeding the female during the cycling period and bring all the temps back to normal in Feb./March. I have no doubt that you'll be successful!

Heh heh, maybe Tim. Might have a different one go first. I'll keep you updated through email man. Don't worry. How are things going on your end? Its still WAY early man. WAY early.
OVULATION from a november breeding that means "NOTHING" to you!!!!!!!!!!

Getting better all the time! :D Like you, I'm working on racks and web site tinkering. I'm also trying to figure out which direction(s) I want to go over the next couple years, building a python egg incubator and trying to convince my males how sexy my females are! ;) It's nice to have half my collection in the closet for a bit too. Gives me some time for the above projects.
Keep up the good work bro!

LOL Scott! It means nothing to ME. Ha ha, I didn't ovulate!!! Ha ha. J/K. These things keep me on my toes and have me always guessing. I see your guy has been busy as well! What a YELLOW demon he's turned out to be! WOW! :D
Tim, it DOES get better and better every year. We'll have to have a pow-wow someday and discuss things. Let me know how yur incubator goes. Believe me when I say that investing the $100US in a 500W Helix is WORTH it man. I'll be getting another one from the Bean Farm this spring, so if you want to go halfers on an order or something, let me know.
Ciao! :D
