Mouse Killa asked me a question... Honey Bun?? Well, she is named after the large boa owned by the tattooed lady Patty from the book by Robert Heinlein about a Martian man called Stranger in a Strange Land . Jake the Snake is a wrestler and my other boa. Annie is a BP named for Anniversary Present, in recognition of my firsts anniversary when my husband bought her for me.
So the question is, where do your snakes names come from? If you don't name them(Clarke, tee hee!), why? I've seen posts where people list their snakes names and the variety is incredible.

annies mom! don't mock me! i just don't name snakes because i don't talk to them. i don't talk to them because they don't hear me. they can't hear me because they don't have functioning ears. i don't know why they don't have functioning ears. :P
thats easy Clarke cause they don't want too hear the stupid names people give them.
Snake names only...
<i>Andora</i>- several witches have been named this
<i>Tasha</i>- just popped in my head one day when I looked at her
<i>Darky</i>- very dark specimen (ya that's creative :p ... just like the black fish I had when I was a kid that I called Blacky :p)
<i>Slowpoke</i>- had a bit of an unexplained rough month as a neo
<i>Mr Poopypants</i>- started out as Mr Grumpypants but soon changed because of the wonderful mess he used to create
<i>Satabria</i>- sometimes carries the tip of her tail like an airplane
<i>Chasey</i>- reminds me of Chasey Lain
<i>Peanut</i>- her head reminds me of either a peanut of a bulldog :p
<i>Marvin</i>- Marvin the martian after all the alien markings on hsi sides
<i>Tali</i>- just popped in to my head when I looked at her
<i>Poe</i>- same as above
<i>Bugs</i>- came with the name, named after his eyes
<i>Sweetness</i>- just that
<i>Rocket</i>- when I aquired her at the show Shane opened her container to take her out, and she shot out like a rocket and took off on the floor :p She still makes those attempts to this day, and her red colour reminds me of a rocket.
<i>Monkey</i>- behaves like a silly monkey
I still have several that aren't named. I just wait for something to pop in to my head that suits the snake, not just because I like a name or whatnot, hence it can sometimes take a while :o

All of my herps are named after Mavel characters, but i'm going to start running out of names soon so i'll have to think of a differnt way off doing it.
Geckos- Speedball, Domino, Rouge, Psyloke (lucky), Siren, Elektra
Corns- Havoc, Silver Sable (sable)
Bearded dragons- Logan (wolverine's real name is logan) and Raven (mystics real name)
Rose hair T- Night Crawler.
And the only one not named after a marvel charcter would be Neo my veiled cham. He was my friends for 2 weeks and he named him so i didn't want to change the name, and i'm sure you know where Neo came from.

I only name boas if something pops in my head over and over when I look at the Boa. We recently received an adult hog that has old scars on his face so he is named Scar Face. I have enough snakes that my friends can't remember their names so I just call them what they are. For example, my albino, my Anerythristic, etc. If we have more than one kind of boa I throw in breeder names, sex, and sometimes their birth year like my male 02 Kahl albino, my 03 Clay English albino, my 03 Pythons.net albino, etc.

There you go again with the irresistable thread titles Annie's Mom!
We let our daughter name all of ours. She named the first one, a male normal phase corn, Amik. She just made it up. She plagerizes other names and has to be steered away from naming them after here aunts and uncles but she always comes up with something. We have an absolutely evil Eastern King that she named Nightstalker but I occasionally refer to him as Manson.
To me the snakes are becoming less like pets so I tend to talk about them in terms of "the male cal king" or "the female ball". There are just getting to be more names than I can keep straight in my mind.
The cats have names too but I usually call them the "F***ERS" collectively, as in "get out of the plants you little..." or "quit scratching the couch you..." Cats are just a menace.

Here goes... :) A great deal of my animals are named after characters in books that I've read...
Snakes
Xander - male ball python, modified version of Zander, a name I liked from a book.
Fate - female brazilian rainbow boa, born on my birthday... I'm sure you can figure the rest out. LOL...
Lukien - male irian jaya carpet python, saw the name in a book and liked it.
Kaehne - unsexed green tree python. Now this one's an interesting story... lol. I have never in my life had such a hard time naming an animal -- I had this guy picked out and paid for for 6 months before I finally got him home, and I searched for a name that whole time with no luck... nothing seemed to "fit". Finally about a month after I brought him home, I was talking with a customer whose name was in my computer as "Mr.Kane". He was amazed that I pronounced it correctly, which was a little confusing because I had no idea how else you would say that name. Turns out whoever typed it in didn't spell it correctly... it was supposed to be "Kaehne". I have this thing for names that are spelled differently, and as soon as I saw that I was like "aha!". LOL... I hope Mr. Kaehne doesn't mind having a snake named after him ;) So there's that story... lol...
Calliope - female jungle carpet python, this one just popped into my head one day and I decided I liked it :)
Rhonwen - female ball python, on my list of ready made pet names that I've put together over the years... lol. Thought it suited her when I saw it :)
Taigh - male brazilian rainbow boa, this is another one from a book... Taigh was a Fae bard.... I liked it :)
Geckos
Ember - female leo, a positively electric yellow carrot tail from Urban Gecko... I'm sure you can figure out the rest ;)
Willow - female leo, just liked the name... another one on my list. lol...
Cujo - female leo, named after the former Leaf's goalie Curtis Joseph (it should be noted that I thought that Cujo was a male at the time... lol. And the name stuck around even after I found out otherwise...)
Zith - female leo, named after the cute little deadly poisonous snake from David Eddings' Belgariad/Mallorean books :)
Dallas - female leo, just liked the name
Rhapsody - female leo (albino), named after the main character in Elizabeth Haldon's "Rhapsody" trilogy
Trinity - female leo (albino), following the trend... lol...
Serenity - female leo (albino), again... following the trend ;)
Aidan - female leo (albino)... supposed to be a male, turned out to be female -- name stuck around :) Just liked the name...
Rhodry - male leo (albino), one of the main characters in a series of books I was reading at the time...
Arthur - male leo (blizzard), named after King Arthur... seemed fitting, my first male blizzard was named Merlin.
Indi - male pictus, cute name, cute little gecko when I got him. LOL. Plus the name could've gone either way (male or female), and he was too young to know the sex of when I first got him...
Kia - female pictus, on the "name list" -- seemed to suit her.
Lexi - female leo (blizzard), she was quite spunky as a baby, and the name just seemed to fit :)
Sierra - female leo (patternless), more lady-like as a baby, this name seemed more feminine...
Hailey - female leo, this name just popped into my head...
Riana - female leo, another name that just popped into my head and seemed to fit...
Ciaran - male leo, named after one of the main characters in the "Seven Brothers" trilogy by Juliett Marillier
Jacey - female leo, just liked the name :) From the list...
Sage - female leo, again from the list...
Cassie - female leo, a carbon copy of her mother Katie, and named in honor of her mother (RIP)...
Dawson - male leo, name seemed to fit him...
Talia - female leo, from "the list", the name seemed to suit her...
Shiva - female crested, just liked the name :)
Cayce - male crested, popped into my head, and the name seemed to fit...
Phoenix - male crested (fire morph)... I'm sure you get the idea. LOL..
Good Lord... lol. I think I got everyone on there!
For non-herps, I've got:
Mice - these ones should be fairly self-explanatory ;)
Oreo - male black/white
Twix - female caramel/white
Marshmallow - female albino
Cats
Levi - male DSH, named after one of the horses I used to ride... lol...
Java - female seal mitted Ragdoll, named for her coffee color, not the computer language ;)
Fish
Miko - maroon clownfish
Mushuu - bicolor dottyback
Dart - yellow tail damsel
I think that's it. LOL... hopefully I didn't forget anyone...
