Sabbath, Danzig, Type O Negative, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cowboy Junkies, Seven Dust, Cold, Staind, Rachmanninof, Chopin, (most classical of any kind), Led Zeppelin, Bluegrass of any kind, Blues (old stuff some newer varieties), Billie Holiday, Enya, Clannad, Salty Dogs, Chieftans, Mob music (G)... music of the 20's, 30's, and 40's, I hated the 50's... Vietnam era stuff like Iron Butterfly, Jimmy Hendrix, etc... Bochelli and other opera stuff (g)... Odd stuff that no one else listens to, now or then (g)

Yep, you could say I like a range and nothing much of it top 40 but I've always been an odd bird. About the only top 40 stuff I like is from Jewel or Tori Amos and maybe a couple of odd bands here and there like Nickelback etc...

im 18 and attending music college in about two week (electric guitar). I love a lot of style but im still really in the 80s stuff! Yngwie j. Malmsteen, early work by Joe satriani and Steve Vai..
I also love some modern "metal" groups: Dream theater, inflames, opeth, rhapsody, nightwish, symphony X... But the only music I can stand anytime is old jazz and classic stuff. Mostly the work done by: Django Reindhart, Wes Montgommery, Charlie Christian, Chopin , Beethoven, Tchaikovsky, Sostakovich and Vivaldi of course!!

Im also a big fan of Danny Elfman (The simpsons, Army of darkness(evil dead 2 or 3?) and Sleepy Hollow (amazing songwritting on this one :)!!)

When I was 15 I developed an intense hatred for most mainstream music, so you don't catch me listening to the radio...........

Well i like Regee, Classical, What I call Light Rap, Alternative, and Alternative Rock, Everyonce in a while I will actually listen to Country (HEY LEMME ALONE WILL YA I LIVE IN TEXAS HEHE) Soft Rock, Instramental, Electronica, 80s New Wave, Hell i listen to just about anything as long as I can understand the words w/o reading the cd cover. During Christmas season I listen to Christian music, I love Soundtracts, Theater music, I wont listen to spanish songs unless it is slow and romantic., I like Ethnic music, I like Jazz if it is played right and I love Blues if it really is the blues, I even like some of my daughters children songs :) Cuz that is just the type of girl I am.

I mostly listen to contemporary country and rock but I like most music that involves some level of talent by the artist, therefore alot of rap and hip hop is out.

Not to pick a fight but JKS...it annoys me when people say that they like all this misic but hate country. They think of old school country and western and lump all "country music" together into that category. A lot of so-called country music is faster and harder than some of the stuff from the bands you listed. I like the bands you listed don't get me wrong. I mean no offence, I've just had too many Backstreet Britneys say that they like everything but hate country. Open your minds...

Lets see, the computer radio is usually on an Australian Indigeneous (Aboriginal) Station, the MP3 player has Native American and Pagan groups that few would recognize, 3 Doors Down, Bush, Pink, Cher, Flogging Molly, Garbage, Blink 182, Joan Baez, Paula Cole, Alanis and Merchant, the CD player has Eminem, No Doubt, Dead Can Dance, Bob Marley, Rob Zombie, Indigo Girls, Sublime, Danzig, Frank Zappa, Jonny Winter, and some euro stuff like Kieloor Entartet,Blue Dog, Perfect Trouble,Gret, sO NicHT and a little more, when I go out to bars to hear jams I usually try to find a Ska band, I can Waltz, Two Step, and Cotton Eye Joe, and will spend hours dancing at drum circles. I hope it never ends lol.

I'm really into old classic music and Death metal. I will only listen to that kind of music and hate anything associated with RAP. I love old bands like Led Zeppelin,LYNYRD SKYNYRD, Iron ButterFly,Queen,Danzig,MisFits,Black Sabbath,Pink floyd,Alice cooper, Doors,Scorpions,Dio, Deep Purple and of course Jimmi Hendrix. I forgot to mention that my favorite band is The Tragically Hip. They are one of the best Canadian performers. Gordie may be lossing his mind of late but that's OK.

I used to have a really good conection in the music industry. I could get into almost all the big show in western Canada. I have seen more shows from backstage than I have from the audience. I was 10 feet from the stage when AC/DC came to Edmonton, that was one of the best concerts I've been to in the last few years.

Alas, after Sept 11, my dad was laid off when House of Blues cut back in their Vancouver office.

oh but by the way u have to realize there are different age qroups here.... you can pretty much tell what age people might be around be the type of music they listen to. i am asuming that most of the rap, hiphop, pop and that sort of music is listened to the teenage group or there abouts. so its no wonder i like a little rap....i mean give me a break i am only 16!!!!!

I am totally into going to concerts and going to small venues like the Engine room in houston and getting into moshpits and just busting lose and swinging your fists everywhere and pushing people around. I make it a rule not listen to bands that are on MTV b/c in my opinion if your on MTV your selling your music out and and your not in it for the music anymore. a perfect example is Limp bizkit once the biggest things in rock and look at them now after their music being all over the radio and T.V. commercials, their music changed and people lost respect for them. I have to admit I like TOOL though b/c their music is weird and heavy at the same time. i absolutely hate rap b/c anyone can to talk while someone is banging on a desk or table how hard is it make weird noises using computers. Seriously how tallented do you have to be turn old records. it just pisses me off that they get popular and have so much money being talentless losers who can't talk about anything other than the size of the rims on their cars or beating their wives. Do they know any other words besides profanity. Anyway i like this subject and am very opinionated on it!

I play guitar so i am heavily influenced by the main rock greats like page, hendrix, hammit, satriani, vai, etc. etc. Im a huge metallica, van halen ac/dc etc fan. But also own every Smiths c.d. and housemartins as well. I don't listen to as much rap as i use to, but i did do a little d.j. work when i was younger, basically when techno and house was still underground, and i still have an appreciation for it. I like some country, jazz, blues as well, basically like alot of you, what ever moves me for the mood im in, is what ill listen to that day. From Metallica to zappa, and everything inbetween.
