View Full Version : Roxy on pillow photos
Hello! Well at this point in my heart there is no amount of hives that could make me get rid of this iguana. Sure that may change later if I get sever hives but this morning when I see her resting on a pillow I just made her last night I realize I could never think of another place for her. Who would make her pillows the way she likes them?!??! (huge on one side, unstuffed on the other! lol)
She would throw a fit if she knew I was posting photos of her while she is shedding! *LMAO* So excuse the bad skin, she is really shedding this past two weeks!

Awesome girl, I'm glad that you decided to keep her! I hope that your hives/allergies to her clear up! Good luck! Oh, I love the walls of her enclosure, it's a nice back drop for her!
She really is such a regal ig, I sure hope you can solve the hive problems so that you and Roxy have many more years together.
You know at this point I am dying of these hives but when you see the iguana doing such cute things or appreciating things you do for her, the hives just don't matter anymore.
A face shot:

A terrible shotof her cage....which I feel she is outgrown.

Face it, Marisa, you've become hooked on being an ig slave and are just loving the hives that show that Roxy really controls all aspects of your being. ;)
LMAO! That's funny because last night I let her out to eat some dinner on the kitchen floor. When she was done it was EVERYWHERE!!! And as I was I cleaning it all up and mopping the floor I was thinking about how big a slave I am! lol

Marisa, I'm glad to hear you will be keeping the lil(not really) lady. I really hope there is something that can be done about the hives :(
Roxy is a magnificent animal, and I'm glad she's staying with her family.
I too am glad to hear that you are keeping Roxy despite the hives, I really understand what you are going through! But there is hope :)
So far I haven't noticed an allergy to my ig myself or to any other herps I have, but it wouldn't surprise me one bit. I am allergic to every animal I've been in contact with that has fur, I'm also allergic to anything that is green and grows and this includes grass... Wheeee! So I understand what it is to live with hives on a regular basis! :) I can say that it definitely gets easier with time.
I decided that my allergies weren't going to stop me from enjoying having furry pets and I've always had them around regardless of my allergies and breakouts. Today I still have 2 dogs and plenty of rats that give me hives galore, LOL! :D
I found that the hives with time have started going away faster and mostly, the itching doesn't bother me much anymore. Today, when pick up my little Bobby, I get a nice rash that will last between 20min & 1 hour. The itching is always more intense in the first few minutes.
There are a couple of things that you can do to alleviate your hive outbreaks.
If you foresee a long contact session with your Roxy, you can always take an allergy pill 30 min. before your activities together. It will minimize the outbreak's onset & duration.
I have seen some ads for "Benadryl" cream with anti-histamines in them. I haven't found some myself yet and am dying to! I'm sure that would help relieve a rash of hives. If you can't find some either there are some other products that help relieve the symptoms of an itchy rash.
The "Aveeno" line of products is based with ingredients that soothe itchyness for various reasons. It's main component is oatmeal that is an old home remedy to aleviate itchy rashes or skin, etc. You can even try making yourself a homemade paste, just grind some oatmeal in a blender and mix into a fine paste with water.
Good luck and welcome to the club, LOL ;)

Thanks guys!
