View Full Version : My caterpillar friends
Have couple of these guys eating our dill plants. They are super neat! I *think* they are Black Swallowtail caterpillars, but I'm not sure........

Very neat looking???Any idea what they look like when they become butterflys?? Or do that do that???
I sure hope they metamorphesize (sp) lol .. generally many insects will either pupate after several molts or when food becomes very scare and the wings are needed to reach other food. Also, A sexully reproductive adult, is one with wings implying that catepilars need to pupate into moth or butterflies to eventuaally rproduce ...
(well in general .. there are exeptions to every rule)
I beleive my info is accurate although I would not trust it too much .. The arthropode world is really not my strong.
Take care
Dom

My puppy ate ALL of them when she was out in the yard the other day!!! Guess I won't get to see what happens after all! Bad puppy, ate the couch cushions and a big renovations book as well that day..........
