Wondering if anyone knows where i can get the specs for the smaller (18-36") GE cool/warm white flouro's. Mainly i am looking for where exactly they are on the spectrum and at what distances/times. I cant find them anywhere, and i always get passed onto some other secratary when i phone...

Thanks for any help.

Good luck! I've spent many days on the phone and web trying to extract output info from a whole bunch of manufacturers. Most either cannot or will not provide that data. From what I've learned, there is a great deal of apprehension and fear of liability the moment you ask about UV specs.

The best deal I was offered was to rent a testing facility for a day and run the tests myself. CSA has all the info we're seeking, but evidently can't share it with the general public.

Funny how that is. You know it cant be good if they dont want to share it. I really cant stand waiting on the phone with them anymore, so agrivating!

Wow....for GE fluorescent bulbs.....CANADIAN TIRE IS WHERE ITS AT!!!!!!!!! When I was there last week......they had the most informative chart in existence on the GE tubes. They had the names of the bulbs, color temperature, and recomended applications, as well as a description of what the color of the bulb looked like. They actually had 6500K tubes!!!! and they were only 5.99, yes you read it properly...$5.99!!!!!!!!!! (these were the four foot tubes). The actual name of the 6500k tubes was something like ultra-daylight.... though I am sure ths is not the exact name. They are thinner than the standard tubes as well. I will take a ride down there tonight, pick up a few bulbs, and post the info on the actual names of these bulbs. 6500k color temp is ideal, especialy if you want to grow bromeliads. The al glass qauarium company makes a nice screw-in compacr fluorescent that fits in a standard incandescent slot. I use two of them on my Dendrobates ventrimaculatus vivairum, and the bromeliads are doing superbly and pupping. The moss has done incredibly well under these lights as well.....it has been about 8 months with no signs of browning yet.
