Well this is something I was looking forward to all season! For the past month or so I’ve observed courting and copulation between these two and early this morning when I was making my rounds I finally observed ovulation!
Salmon male:

Common female: Although there is nothing common about this girl! She exhibits reduced pattern and reduced black pigment ,also a reverse stripe on her tail.

Ovulation: Try as I might, I can’t properly capture on film the size of my females when they ovulate, but there is no mistaking it and this girl was huge this morning.

If genetics prove true, these two should produce some of the finest Salmon Boas in Canada. At this point there is no guarantee that she will produce viable offspring, but at least this ovulation is a step in the right direction. I’m very excited about this pairing.
Thanks for looking!
Chris
