possible cross/hybrid

being that black heads and womas are from the same family spidites, can the be crossed or hybridized, if so got any pics?

I would think so (as far as being possible) & would think not (as far as anyone doing it). With rare high end animals such as these I think most people are trying to breed them to their own, not each other. Plus I don't think many of us are rich enough to afford both to play hybrid games. Corns & Kings yeah, high end Austrailian Pythons no. IMHO Mark

I agree with Mark. Hybridizing these incredible and incredibly endangered creatures is wrong on so many levels it makes me ache just thinking about it. These majestic creatures MUST BE LEFT PURE. Why anyone would take these incredible creatures and devalue them by hybridizing is just beyond me.

Invictus you know some one will eventually do it just out of couiosity. Especially once they become more common on the market. Do they ever mix in the wild? I dont know thier ranges or anything

To be totally honest the possible out come of a cross might look pretty cool

The ranges overlap slightly in the wild (West coast Australia and central Australia), but the habitats are pretty different (hence the speciation from a common ancestor). Womas are in dry, arid, desert types, whereas Blackheads like forests, grasslands, and shrubland type geo-climes.

I have never heard of a cross in nature or in captivity. Doesn't mean to say it couldn't happen. They look extremely similar and you can tell that they haven't diverged too far back in the phylogeny. But I would be more scared about the Blackhead EATING the Woma. Yikes.
