Welcome Mike. Boas are great eh, I love em'. I have a few myself. I dig the name. To be more on cue, Loki is actually from the Norse mythology (To start from the begining), he is the son of the giant Farbauti and the giantess Laufey. He is also regarded as one of Aesir, or gods of this pantheon, just as is Thor, Tyr, Odin, Freya and others.
Loki is known to be mischevious, malicious and tricky. Known as a "Trickster" and "Shape Changer" to put it pimply.
To add: You can check this site out to understand more of the Norse mythology, as some of these folks make it their life. Great stuff here at the SCA, the Society of Creative Anochronism. This may help out a bit as well: Norse Mythology , to understand a bit further.
