Hey everyone,

Have 2 quick questions for you

1) My retic went blue on monday and cleared up about tuesday night. Ive got the humidity abot 64-65 % shouldnt he be shedding soon?

2) has anyone ever heard of using "pig blankets" as warmers for their larger snakes? I know alot of Tort keepers use them and they already have a built in Thermostat..

Pig blankets are a great option for large cages if you're not comfortable wiring heat tape yourself. But I prefer radiant heat panels, they put out a similar amount of heat with less electricity.

He will probably shed within a week.

I've never used a pig blanket myself but I know people who have and they have had nothing but good things to say about them.

A radiant heat panel gives off infrared radiation which gets air particles moving and generates more heat than just the stuff it emits by itself.

This is the kind I use but there are many other good ones on the market. You usually do need to buy a thermostat for them, but as they are so energy-efficient you get back the cost of the extra gear in electricity savings.

I have used pig blankets for years. I have not had a problem with them.

I always let mine shed before feeding.

I can feed most of my snakes during sheds if they land on feeding times, otherwise if stress is gonna be a factor, waiting a few days wont hurt at all.
I do not have any large boids other than my boas, so I use "human" heating pads for them. I have heard of folks using pig blankets forthe larger pythons and hear good things about them as well.

I GOT ONE PIG BLANKET IN MY CAGE WITH MY TUBE PUPPY AND HE IS VERY HAPPY
