Pic with full grown nile?

hey can someone link me up a pic with someone holding their full grown nile monitor please? or have some sort of item to compare?

thx... im just curious, mines so tiny and i can't really picture him being 6 foot.

I have pics here, but no scanner or anything like that - but the record size to-date is 7 feet, 11 3/4 inches, weighing 70 kg. She was killed a few years ago. There are records of them reaching 9 feet or more - and given this largest specimen was a FEMALE, males are larger than males, 9 feet seems perhaps small.

And if you look in Mardy's photo gallery i am pretty sure he has some pic's of him holding his big Nile. Also Marc (Chondro python) should have some I know he has worked with some monsters.

A healthy nile grows very big. Check out Rob Fausts Nile book, lots of info and photos. Someones trying to sell a 6'2" as one of the biggest in capivity (haha) for $3000 yet, haha..

Mine is nowhere near full grown yet. But like Brandon said if you keep taking good care of him and feed him well he will grow. I got mine in May and his growth rate has been pretty steady. He has some good weight on him now and is getting large.
SHvar is right Rob Fausts book on niles has some great pics. It also has good info on diets, caging, handling etc....

i can't wait to see, hes only 13". Hes finaly eating really well (when i got him he didnt eat). I leave crickets(12) for him in his cage everyday and feed him small pinkies every 2 days.

Does anyone recomend a Nile monitor or Ornate nile monitor care sheet?

The care sheets I've found conflict alot. The best source of info that I've seen is Rob Fausts book. It's priced pretty decent at around $8 on Amazon.com.

Nile monitors do get a decent size ...I do not have one myself ..however I was swimming with juvis in a pool and adults down the river near Lake Nakuru in Kenya .... the adults are quite large... definetly 6 feet ... very nice colourings on juvis in the wild ...never seen them that colourful in captivity

how big is the actual body and head without the tail when they are full grown? Cuz i know the tail is reaaaly long.

The common nile is the longest lizard in Africa, but not the largest heaviest or bulkiest, that title belongs to the Albigularis which in the wild normally exceeds 18lbs as an adult, sometimes 35+lbs, whereas the nile commonly grows to 15-18lbs. The nile does have a long tail, I saw one on Croc Hunter that was 6 ft but wasnt large STV length, kind of like a green Iguana but a longer body than a green iguana.

To-date, the largest female V. niloticus is both the longest and heaviest Varanus on the African continent, 7'11 3/4 feet, 70 kg... there are reports of both larger V. niloticus and V. albigularis in south/equatorial Africa, but most of these are 100+ years ago, and animals of that magnitude see the cooking pot long before they make the record books....anyone have a record of the longest V. exanthematicus - me either?? Wonder why? See afore- mentioned cooking pot!

Mark I will send you a copy of the last study on ornatus, the lagest estimated male was 2.45m I dont remember if the auther is Vivien de Buffrenil, however Horn sent me this document last year, its not poblished yet.
