Color development pics of normal corns

Amazing to me how these guys change over just a few months - had time on my hands yesterday to take a few shots of some of our normal corns and am amazed how much they have changed. These are from a rather bland looking striped normal female that laid a suprise clutch shortly after we purchased her - so just normal corn babies. They have almost no black around the saddles but are developing the dark lines along their backs typically of sooty color in wild corns so I expect they will be rather unremarkable in color as adults - but it is interesting to follow their development.

I agree that normals have their own charm.

Simon - have no idea what the father was, but whole clutch was normal. I am only interested in the fact that the mom is a striped, so all are het striped. If I keep them to maturity I will incorporate them as an outcross line to get striped genes in my creamsicles - lack of a black border on saddles should translate to minimal white borders in the creamsicles which I already have and don't want to lose by breeding out to any of the lines with thick borders. If only I could keep enough corns to do all the things I want with the genetics - but then I would have as many as you do!

I had no idea that they came out so dark at first! I guess you can't get too excited about any odd colours you may find in hatchlings because they won't look even close to the same just 2 months later. Weird!

I got my corn on my b-day which was august 15 2003 and im not sure wat kind of corn it is. Or if its male or female for that matter. It looks similar to the pics above jus a lil darker. Can any one help???

Probably a normal corn. My daughter loves the normal corns the best. I like ALL of them.
