I too thank our forefathers to make it possible for us to "Keep on rockin in the free world" we often fail to realize just how lucky we are & the personal sacrifices that were made for us & our futures. Hats off to all the Veterans & all those that continue to fight the good fight on our behalf. Mark I.

My grandfather was a mechanic in Europe during WWII. Gave him a thank-you call today.
Glad you made this post Lisa. Its a holiday today for many of the schools here and honestly it really pisses me off how ignorant some people my age are and how little they know about the wars fought. For instance my teacher was talking about Vietnam and a few kids in my class didnt even know there had been a war!! I felt like smacking them upside the head. Also since were on this topic, both of my grandfather's fought in WW2, one died in action, one died a few years ago. The one who died in action was a Spitfire pilot and was shot down in France.

Jeff, I know what you mean about how people are ignorant these days. I wasn't in this assembly because I'm in grade 12, but in the younger grades' assembly, some grad nine made a "rude" noise during the moment of silence. How stupid can you get....
My grandad was also a Spitfire pilot, and he helped to build them before that... He joined when he wasn't of age though, haha... Sneaky grandad. He was in the RAF. & he's still alive today
Now he's in contact with people who have hobbies of rebuilding old aircrafts, and he gives them tips and ideas on how to make it exactly like he used to

That is so great. There is nothing like seeing a classic warbird back in the sky.
