Grandma's Toad

Hello, a new toad came to live here today. My roomates Grandma has been talking about this toad that lives in her basement for like months and months now. I'd say almost a year. Anyways, the Grandma is now moving for the first time in 43 years and was insisting this toad could not be left in the basement because she wouldn't be there to feed it anymore and the new owners might finish the basement. She was quite attached to it. She convinces my roomates to bring it home, (wow must have been hard considering one is a huge frog nut) and they didn't think they should let it go either because the grandma has been feeding it for like so long....by hand...its nuts. Anyways so here is this toad in a temp home until they go out and buy moss and all that good stuff,

It is an American Toad, right? I am not really sure as I don't know much about frogs or toads. Does it look o.k. health wise? It is very active and already ate some gutloaded crickets.

No not my hand, the Grandmas hand. She was feeding it small spiders and bugs every couple days for a long time. It would sit smack in the middle of her basement. hehehe. Maybe it will eat from ours too eventually, not sure.

it looks to be a "bufo americanus" with great colouring. it also looks nice and fat. have fun with prince charming. :)

So Marisa, You gonna call him Prince right? He is so handsome. Nice colors! Wish my Grandma had a Toad! lol :D

hahaha well the Grandma had him named Herman but I am pretty sure its a female....

So far its an awesome Toad!!! It is living in our living room and while it still is a little nervous to eat in front of us, it comes to the front of the tank all the time when people are in the room. Probably begging for food. lol.

Not right now but I will try to get one today. I read that females usually have really light colored throats as well. Is this true? This toad has a really light colored plain colored throat.
