As you can see, only a thin strip of white left, orange starting to come in heavily at the sides and from the tail.

Nice~
and that is what I am saying about the belly about the volcano corns.
they seem to have what most poeple call a het for bloodred kind of affect with the belly.
I can say that MOST of the normal (or whatever phase) het bloodred males tend to have a larger section of belly that is plain.

For a female the belly looks kind of like yours (plain a bit but still with very visible checkerings)

Is your volcano a male or female?
if you don't know I could bet my money on that it's a female.

Eitherway great looking snake~
these volcanos are something interesting~

It is a male. It was popped and I also had it probed.

This guy was born with a ivory white belly, no checkerings at all, and he still has none, at least on the scutes.

Another question that comes to my mind is that volcanoes breed true, that's a given fact. If they are bloodred hets, then how come when two volcanoes breed there are no bloodreds and just more volcano babies?

These guys haven't seemed to catch on yet, but I find them to be extremely nice animals and I have no idea why they haven't.

You are going to force me to get a volcano if you keep posting pics I cant afford it right now so hold off on the next one. Keep us updated on its color change.

Andy,

Regarding to that question, that is what I have in mind too. I haven't really seen too many people with these volcano corns avalible in the market yet. So I don't think that there has been too much breeding of these volcano corns yet. So maybe by luck we havent seen any bloodreds come up with these volcano breedings. This is why I am going to try and breed my volcano corn male to a true bloodred this year just to prove this out. Since breeding it to a true bloodred there has to be a chance of getting some bloodred (well unless my luck doesn't allow me to do this.) Breeding two hets together will have a smaller chance of getting true bloodreds. But breeding a bloodred with the volcano het bloodred will have a higher chance. So hopefully next year I'll be able to see if they volcano is het for bloodred or not. Even if I did prove there was bloodred genes in the volcano corns, we would still need to try it with another volcano since maybe only mine was het bloodred. Or if no bloodred was show in the F1s of the volcano x bloodred pair maybe it was my luck that lucked out and got me all normals only. So we would need more people proving this out plus time~ Only time will prove if this volcano is het bloodred or not.

Since there are now lots of other hypo genes floating around now, how do we not know that this volcano is just another morph of hypo?

LOL...I am making too much assumptions here but there are just way too many things that we should do before we really know what this beautful morph is. Maybe it's another new base gene.

Oh the fun working with corn snake~
I love it! lol
