Not very volcanoish yet as he is only 4 months old. So nice to handle and already very calm! His belly is starting to get orange too, I will post a pic of it when I take one.

I was told that a volcano is actually a normal het bloodred corn snake. I have been told that this species was seletively bred to have this coloration and all. I have a 'volcano' male that I am going to breed with my bloodred female this year just to test out this little 'volcano' morph to see if it's really het for bloodred or what so ever. I can take a picture of my 'volcano' and I'll post it up later. He just ate yesterday so I dont want to disturb him too much right now.

Simon, if you truly want to know about the jungles, talk to the man that is one of the originators of volcanoes, my friend Darren Boyd. www.thereptilerainforest.com is his site and his contact info is on there. As far as I am aware, they are not het for bloodred, they are only het for more volcanos, but I can't be sure on that. Talk to Darren, he will know.

To everyone else, thanks for all of the comments! I didn't know he would get this much attention so quickly ^_^. I will definitely get a pic of the belly probably tomorrow or the day after.

Yeah I have seen that web site before. But from what I remember the volcano corn originally came from a guy on the west side. I remember reading somewhere that said there were bloodred genes in it. But I didn't believe it so I am just going to try this year to see what happens. It never hurts to try. If they're not het then I am just going to get some nice normal het bloodred genes. That wont hurt either.

Well Some grow faster than others. I have had a few that are taking down adult mice when they were around 5 months old. Some that are so slow in growing that they still look like a hatchling even thought they are a year and a half old now...hahaha
so it all depends~
