But all I got was a blackhead python.

This is the male that Sheila bought - it came in on the plane today. It had quite the trip, nearly 30 hours - but it made it here safe and sound.

Very cool snake, can't wait to get Vanan over with his camera to take some better pictures.

The snake is very close to 5' long.

I can't beleive how black the head and eyes really are. It reminds me of a great quote by a great person.

"'How much more black could this be?' And the answer is: 'None...none more black.'"--Nigel

Special thanks to Martin Tremblay! And to Marc Dorion (chondro python) and Steeve B with your generous assistance with communication and translation.

The black head python is a magnificent snake, already on my favorites list. He is alert, inquisitive and friendly...all piled into one beautiful snake.

We will be sure to post better pics of him in the gallery in the next few days.

Roy, a friend of mine has a female, he might throw the 2 together, and see what happens - you know, like cornsnakes - haha.

Tim, glad you liked the quote, I thought it was especially fitting, and was suprised Roy did not say anything about it - he was our age back then.

Thanks for the nice words everyone.

All of this talk of "stealing him from you when we come out there for a visit" or "only if I have the space I'll be coming over and taking them back to Ontario~" reminds me of something.

Here is a picture of our dog Sarge, who really likes the blackhead python an all of the reptile actually.

He has long term rabies and ebola - and guards both the zoo building and the house with his 4 clones, also rabid and ebola stricken.

I still say Sarge is a horse, not a dog.

that's alright I'll bring my three danes and 2 heinz 57's if they work together I think they could take the sarginators LOL! Although the heinz 57's are only 100lbs a piece so they will have too work doubly hard

Well I guess I'll have to bring along a whole bag (like santa) of food for it to chew on while I am snatching things away.
While I am at it I guess I'll take back my salmon and normal het...haha I miss them~

Hey do you have photos of them that I can see??????
They're really nice (from what I think...okay..I am biased...)

One thing about the dog - he will let ANYBODY into this house, even show you where the good stuff is. Just don't try to leave! He has gooned both my parents when they looked after him while we were away. They came to let him out, and feed him, and when they went to leave, he cornered them and would not let them out the door. Dad was lucky to have his cell phone in his pocket, because he could not get to the house phone. He had enough trouble just reaching into his pocket for the cell.
Feel free to come keep Sarge company...he likes company.

And Simon, the salmon is getting huge! We will be sure to post some pics soon.

yeah it's funny the males seem too think when they become 2 they should really start protecticting stuff but the females won't only show you the good stuff they'll help you carry it out LOL!

A group of danes can be a formidable confrontation. I would love to train for boar hounding, but the animal activists have too many problems with using the dogs for their intended purpose.Sarges great grandparents were probably some of the better boar hounds Otto Von Bismark had in Germany - big, strong, agile and fast in spite of their size, with lots of courage and stamina. Some of Ottos best dogs had to be watched closely around visitors, but it was probably because the dogs picked up on things we as humans don't. Sarge has only met a few people he truly does not like, and I trust his judgement more than mine.
