since you say that you're putting it under burmation
58 isn't too bad
just make sure that it doesn't have food in it's stomach. Or else it can't fully digest the food item and the food item can actually rot inside the snake and cause it to infect the snake thus leading death

good luck~

Right now I have my colubrids brumating as well, for a good 14-16 weeks. The night temp drops down to 40° and gets up to 55° during the day, and will be like that the whole duration just about. I think 40° is as low as you would want to go safely, so there is some time before it actually falls to the point of freezing. All the folks I know that brumate their snakes, including myself, do it at a range of 45-55° (+/- 5 °) for 12-16 weeks. My montane snakes prefer it at 40-50° and a longer brumation period than most, at about 14-16 weeks. I just keep all my snakes in that formula and makes things a bit easier for me and works great.

I know a guy that does not provide heat to his corn snake. Regardless who tells him it need heat he says room temps are fine year round. It is now about 3 years old and is rather large and looks healthy.
