View Full Version : A Horrible Story, but all too common!

About a month ago, I was at my favorite local watering hole when I spotted a guy with a bp around his neck. Drinkin and smokin with absolutely no thought to how the ball was liking all this. Initially, I was quite disturbed by this, but I figured I would go talk to him anyway. When I got closer I saw that this was a beautiful snake and it was in shed! (what a moron)

But anyway. After talking to him for a bit I found out that it was his birthday and he had just recieved this snake as a gift. I also found out that what he had was a 10gal aquarium and a heat rock for him. So I did my best to educate him and let him know that having a bp in a bar was sort of a bad idea and he should think twice about bringing him in again. He agreed and seemed really interested in all the things I had to say.

I directed him here and to other sites I know have good care sheets so that he could hopefully start giving this ball the care it needs. Unfortunately, this story doesn't have the happy ending I had hoped for though. I found out the other night through the grape vine that the guy and his girlfriend got in a drunkin brawl and he ended up throwing the bp against the wall and killing it.

I am so angry, I just don't know what to say!! So I figured I would come in here and vent a bit. It's so disgusting. These creatures don't ask anything of us. We bring them into our homes be cause we have a love for them, an understanding of how incredible they are. We love them with every part of us and then someone like this goes to a pet store and gets himself a python to be cool. It's just so frustrating! It just doesn't make sense to me.

Well, anyway, thanks for letting me vent. And thanks for taking the time to read this.

Ouch, that's quite horrid. But you did the right thing, you tried to educate. It's his fault for being too ignorant. So congrats to you, and poor Ball :(

That is a brutal story for so many reasons... It's good that were there to try though. :(

He doesn't deserve a pet of any kind. If only he had two clues. I wonder if he would take a puppy into the same situation?

That is just an awful story... Makes me so mad!!!

I think though that it's a good thing that you or any other snake lover didn't see the incident as I know I would have gotten myself in a heap of trouble reacting to such an incident.

Argh...

Same here Pixie. Every time I go to the "pet store" I have to contain myself from slapping some sense into a stupid person. Like someone buying an adult mouse for a "python" as he put it, as he said it acting all cocky and "I know all" attitude.......I wanted to hurt him! lol....

That is horrible, Why the hell would you throw any animal against the wall in a fight, no matter what.

Next time you see him in the local watering hole, pick him up and throw him against the wall.

Two things that you can count on finding in the world.... ignorance and more ignorance. I feel bad for the BP and that guy had no business having it or any pet. He is obviously too ******** or too immature to take any responsibility whatsoever. I don't accept being drunk as an excuse either, if you can't handle alcohol , you got no business drinking.
