I posted some pics of my BP eating a little while ago and some told me to take the pieces of aquarium gravel i through in (came in the box i got him in..from the show) because it was a very bad idea. So i decided to just redo his whole tank because it was looking kinda bland. What do you guys think, is it ok?

Looks like the snake is happier, too. He's actually checking everything out instead of withdrawing into his hide. Good job. ;)

all I can think of is hopefully there is a UTH, belly heat is easier for the animal to absorb into their core. The over head heat isn't really necessary unless it is needed to keep your warm end at the right temp combined with a UTH. couldn't tell if there was an actual hide on the cool side either, maybe put a humid hide on the warm end the other on the cool. You could also reduce the amount of open screen on top to boost the humidity if needed/wanted. Definitely a more interactive enclosure for your animal. I used to do all my enclosures but decided after a while that the extra cleaning was not worth it. I wish I was comfy with the gaboon in a showcase, seldom poop or shed, don't climb(lol or much of anything but eat) the perfect showcase animal. Just need to secure the decorations against a 10kg animal and figure a way to hook it out without dying lol. Maybe after college I'll be able to afford some of my dream animals and put them in showcases but for now...

Thanks for the info. I dont have an undertank heater but the temps are perfect, as well with the himidity. I spray the tank every 3 days, and where the bushes are on the right side its blocking the cool side hide. Actaulyl right now hes on that side (checked it out :) ) Thanks for the info, ill try to get a UTH anyways. They expensive?

are you sure you're getting 88º on the warmest part and 60% humidity? my tank holds heat and humid worth crap. make sure those things are right. but it looks good, it should hold ur snake until its likely 30'' possibly bigger im not sure. my 20'' bp in a 15gallon has tons of room

o sorry didnt read your post before mine, but yeah UTH's are much better then heat lamps, theyre about 25bucks, phone a few places, some will have em for 20 some for 70 lol, don't get zoomed ones either
I have a uth and it still hard to keep up the humidity. The ambient humidity in the house is 50% and it's still hard to get it to stay at 60-65%. I even cover 3/4 of the screen. I am switching to a rubbermaid very soon. It's horrendous when he's going to shed. To get it to 80% I have to mist like 3x a day and wet the material I have covering the screen! It's too much work, especailly when he hides allot, can't see him anyway. Canadian tire has large sterlite - the sorta see through one on sale for $10-$15.00. I am going to try to pick one up tomorrow!

dani make sure u dont get one too big, also 55% humid is fine, when hes shedding put a damp towel in his hide and you'll get a great shed. but yeah rubbermaids are the way to go anyways
