I just took my boa in for a vet check after he rubbed houa spot on his head. I called around and found a vet who treated snakes, and who said they had a doctor who specialised in reptiles. I was extremely dissapointed in my visit. First she told me that the spotted pattern on him was a mite infestation. I told her that he just had black spots. then she told me that the mark he rubbed was a rat bite. All his food is pre-killed. then she said that he should be shedding each week and he's 5' long. I couldn't believe it. Is this kind of thing common when getting vet treatment for herps. I don't want to spend another $50 for someone to agrivate my snake again. any suggestions for finding a good vet?

Thanks a lot. the nearest recomended vet isv 1/2 hour drive, but i'd rather spend the money on gas than on a bad vet trip.

I'm pretty lucky. There's an exotic animal vet that's located 20 minutes from my house.
