Ok i'm sure alot of you out there don't care about this post and i don't blame ya. But not only do i have a love for herps but i LOVE playing video games!!! I have been a member of x-box live since before it came out on the market. that's right i was lucky enough to be a beta tester ya that was so cool for me... anyway any of you other herpers share this same intrest as me if so share your gamertag and what online games you have. Maybe we can challenge each other sometime.

My gamertag is Empress Judge (actually mine and my boyfriends).
and we play mostly wacked and outlaw volleyball (if anyone else played this game online). We are also thinking about getting mech assult and rainbow 6 ( i think that's what it's called). also if they ever release it Halo 2.

*disclamer* (LOL) sorry for any of you that did not want to read this but this is another intrest of mine and was hoping someother people from this site also shared this intrest and wouldn't mind playing sometime.

Im not a xbox gamer but im a PS2 gamer. I find that PS2 has better games and a better controller design. I love playing Tony hawks on the net and also SOCOM. Im actually going to get SOCOM 2 this week, it has to be the best online game at the moment. I suggest that you try it out. Most PS2 online games are free to play and i heard that they are going to keep it like that. Dont you have to pay to play xbox online? if so that sucks.

I pay 50 bucks a year for my subscribtion to x-box live and thats it and it included the headset. I did have an extra bonus since i was a beta tester i got to play games before anyone else and got one years free subscription. If i want to play everquest then i would have to buy an additional subscribtion through them (they are the only game that does this) all other games do not charge you anything plus they have some pretty cool free downloads that you can't get any other way.

My boyfriend and myself have all the systems x-box, game cube, PS2 and 1. Gameboy regular, advanced, and sp. plus all the old systems. But to be honest we only bought the PS2 for Final Fantasy and Vice city. we also only got the game cube for mario cart double dash (which we are eagerly waiting for the release in 2 weeks and it's taking forever). We compare games on the systems all the time. and we both like the x-box the best. The graphics seem so much better and usually there are some added stuff (only given with the x-box versions) with games that are released on both systems. Plus never any memory cards and i can store music on the system and play them in a few select games that give the option (my own collection of music while playing a cool game what could be better) !!! My boyfriend would enjoy socom but those aren't my types of games. Just like halo i don't like that game great graphics yes great game play of course my intrest nope.

do you have to pay for PS2 or just hook a cable up to it from a router and your good to go(i have a cable modem)???

X-box controllers do suck but i've gotten used to them big bulky things but i recently got a small controller (yeah i'm a girl and i have small hands) so i find that ones easier for me to use.

PS2 is hook it up to a router and you're set to go (as long as you have the network adapter). X-Box does have better graphics but i dont think its puts PS2 to shame. However i love the fact that you can listen to your own music on X-box. Most of the new PS2 online games will have the headset so you can talk to other gamers. I think SOCOM is the only online game at the moment to have that. I dunno what to say but try SOCOM, when i first got it, i pulled some all nighters because its pretty addictive. Overall its a great game, socom 2 has loads of new weapons and levels, they added rocket launchers and land minds to the list. I cant wait to use them...lol

Sweet i'll talk with my boyfriend to see about getting another cable to hook up to the router to run downstairs to the PS2. It sucks the puters upstairs and were downstairs so now it calls for some more holes in the floors and another 50 foot cable. I like both systems that's a reason we have both well, mostly cause certain games only come out on certain systems( thats so irritating). But since we have both systems we buy a majority of x-box games.

I'll tell my man about that game i'm sure he'll enjoy playing it (seeing as he LOVES halo and keeps getting pissed that they keep setting the date farther back for halo 2) I've had that game reserved since febuary. The only action or first person game kinda like that, that i've ever gotten into was tomb raider except now cause they have crapped it all up!!! played one hour of the newest release and haven't played it since then.

Network adapter??? would you explain??? if i have to purchase it do you know around how much they go for?

I think our addiction to video games is just as bad if not worse then our addiction to herps!!!

The network adapter is this device that you plug into the back of PS2 that allows you to play online, it cost 39.99 US dollars but im sure if you shop around you may find one cheaper. The network adapter is where you plug in the cable from the router, its pretty simple once you get it, it maybe takes 5-10 min to set it all up.

If you get SOCOM make sure to get SOCOM 2 because there are tons of cheaters who use gameshark and codebreakers to get an advantage in SOCOM 1. They elimated this in SOCOM 2 (thats what Sony says).

I couldnt agree more, i hate when certain games only come out for one system.

Here are some screen shots.

Console gaming sucks. Doom 3, Unreal 2, and Half-Life 2 make PS2 and EX-BOX look like PONG! LOL!

Console units should come with a label saying ages 12 and under!!

Heh heh.....just my opinion. Don't mind me......................

LMAO!

Console units should come with a label saying ages 12 and under!!

Ouch!!!;)

I'd change that to "112 and under"!!! LOL! A few chrismases ago we got my bf's mum playing Tombraider... she even got the 'trying to look round corners by craning the neck, even though it's a flat image on a screen' syndrome! She said "ooh, it's just like having a huge dolls house to explore...". That was right before a baddie machine-gunned her down... LOL!
Ah well, live and learn.

Just like to add my vote for gaming - age no barrier in our house! Not on-line yet though - our, erm, 'technology' is too rubbish:rolleyes:

Only a matter of time, though... then I'll challenge you guys!

:D

happy gaming,
Brig.

That's HILARIOUS because back in the day, we used to bug a buddy soooo bad because he used to swing his arms when playng Super Mario. Ha ha, everytime he jumped in the game, everyone would overexaggerate and duck for cover!! Ha ha, he stopped playing video games with us!!

HAHA jeff we don't really play pc games around here except for unreal tournment. My boyfriend is not computer friendly LOL. It's alot easier for him to turn on a system then to come upstairs and get pissed cause he doesn't know how to work a computer or type for that matter.

Bo addict i find the same problem with outlaw volleyball nobody is ever online there. I wish i had tetris online but i HAD to have it when it first came out so i missed the online version and just don't feel like spending more money on a game i hardly play as is.

Watch out when mario kart is played in this house you have fist flying, cusswords thrown out everywere, and shouts heard everywere. We're so addicted to that game even after several years!!!

Would you also happen to be a Counter-Striker Jeff?

Now THAT is the best game ever. Period.

Counter Strike! Yes. Ian (www.mouseman.ca) plays more than I do though. I was playing Return to Castle Wolfenstein for a bit, now I'm playing Unreal Tourney 2003. Biding my time until Half Life 2 and Doom 3!!! Can't wait!

So wait let me get this straight. None of you even mention Quake 3, UO (Ultima Online), Final Fantasy 7, or Mario RPG?

All I play now is Quake 3. I play it whenever I'm bored (which is A LOT lately... see my thread)

UO is the craziest game ever, but it costs money and takes up your entire life. My stepbro and I got into that a lot and it was seriously taking over our lives and we had to stop. It's such a great game. If you haven't heard of it, go to www.uo.com it's basically a giant online world, with different professions, houses, skills, monsers, thousands of players, everything.

Final Fantasy 7 was also a great game. Nothing really to say about it... just really good.

Mario RPG. This game is the ****, I played like 5 years ago. If you like RPG's (or even if you don't) you have to play it. It's for Super Nintendo and it's so fun.

I think that's about it. I miss being younger and playing games all the time.... now I can't cause people will make fun of me lol.

R. to Castle Wolf. uses the Q3 engine, but its better. Q3 was fun, but that was a LONNnnnG time ago! But I remember when it first came out. I bought a new computer JUST to play it! Sooooo many hours wasted.

All-time best game though? Without a doubt: The Legend of Zelda. That's right. For the NES. I still play it on my computer. Best game EVER.

Jeff_Favelle
11-07-03, 12:17 AM
J-man, what about Everquest? I was going to get into that (guess I'll wait until the 2nd one is out, which is shortly) but I can't stand paying for games. Heck, I don't even buy games anymore, LOL! That's what I have 2 CD burners and DVD burner for, heh heh...

What are these three-dimensional games you people speak of?? Online whatamjiggy?? LMAO... I'm still in the 80's (early 90's) and haven't advanced past Super NES :o :p I think I'm one of the few people still buying games for it too! hahaha! :p

LOL JMan, we have a friend who played Ultima Online ALL THE TIME!!! We went to see him once, and he logged on to show us - he met someone straight away in the game, and it turned out to be his cousin across town in real life!!! And then his best mate appeared too!!! It was hysterical!

We decided then and there that we were NOT going to get into that one - it definitely takes over your life! Looked like a fantastic game though...

Hope you're still having fun with it...

Fortunately I quit a while ago Brig...

Jeff, Q3 is still good... only cause I play online though. So there's no limit really.... there are always more asses to kick.

As for EQ, it was sort of UO's rival and I always favored UO. It seemed like a much bigger world and stuff like that.

I'm glad you mentioned Zelda... another eally great game was Zelda: Ocarina of Time. Now THAT was a good game... Majora's Mask was dissappointing though.

I played Age of Empires awhile back.. Never tried AoM.

Yea, you'll need to get a registered copy for Bnet, or goto a cyber Cafe and get some user Id's haha. Make sure you get the expansion for it if you decide to play, its so much better!

Kate built a MAME (multiple arcade machine emulater www.mame.net ) stand up arcade game when she was into restoring arcade machines. there's over 1600 games out there and while technically you're supposed to own the roms the images are free do download (it runs on a regular PC).

Ha ha, Settlers of Catan rocks. Get the Longest Road. Its the best. Whoever gets that ALWAYS wins. Actually, whoever gets to place their first house and road first wins.
