The Snake Pit! Halloween Fun!

For Halloween at my school each of the teachers organized an activity for the students. Mine was called the Snake Pit. Don't ya love the costume. I brought in 4 corns, normal, amel, anery and a snow. They got to see snakes and got a lesson on genetics.
Everyone had a great time.

wow, what a really good idea! I bet they had fun and learned a lot too! I should suggest this to all of my teaching friends! *except i know i'd be the one to bring in the snakes...they're all too scared!* :)

I have a teacher at my school that I swear is the Crocodile Hunter's twin, he does the accent perfectly and everything. Usually every year he dresses up as him, and attaches plastic snakes dangling from his clothes and such. This year, however... he hung socks, wore about 3 or 4 shirts, pants AND shorts... then cut out two leg holes in a laundry basket, stepped in them, and pulled the basket up to around his thighs.... He came to school as dirty laundry....

Original, at least.

Looks like you guys had more fun than we did on Halloween (I did a lab on extracting DNA from beef liver... and it SO didn't work.)

Don't ever underestimate my teaching powers Jeff! Jokes aside, they learned that a normals corn as a three colour genes, one for red, one for black and one for yellow. Then they learned that the amel's gene for making black colour doesn't work and that's why she's all red. They got what I was saying and someone in every group was able to predict what the snow corn would look like before I even took it out of the box. Next show pundent squares!

Right on Trevor!! Looks like you and the kids had a blast. Keep it up, maybe the more we expose the younger generations to snakes, the less afraid people will be in years to come.
