... I posted a pic already on the Field Herping forum, but thought he belonged here as well. I just love finding a healthy looking snake in the wild.

Scott, I see yellow rats often and they are quite variable. ( The only snakes I see more often are black racers.) Some are very dark and almost a uniform brown/green instead of yellow. Some are "yellow" as a schoolbus. This one was quite nicely colored and was tinted toward orange. This really made my day as where I found him is only a few miles from my house. He was laying in a mangrove tree overlooking Tampa Bay where I find mangrove salt marsh snakes. It was a nice surprise to see him. Chokeonsmoke-- it's a nicely colored yellow rat snake. The everglades are found farther south.
