A friend of mine just got a really nice BP. She doesn't look like a normal to me, she doesn't have any black where BPs usually have black. There are a lot of pics of her at http://reptiles.majicksprings.com/hannah.html if all you who are experienced with identifying morphs would take a look I would really appreciate it. Also, my friend is not 100% sure her BP is a female, there are pics of her tail area on the site as well, if you can tell gender from the pics that would be good too. Thanks!

Thanks Kathy for posting that for me. I couldn't find my info from when I joined before and I don't have the email addresses I used when I first signed up so I had to reregister.

Wow, that definitely has a lighter pattern than most I've seen. I don't know if there is a fancy name for it... could be hypomelanistic. I'll let those more experienced with morphs comment though, but I think you may have a pretty valuable snake here.

That's soo cool! I want to breed her but have no clue where to find a male to breed her to. I don't think I could afford to buy a male to breed her to at the moment either :(

Sorry, its just a normal. I have 19 that look exactly like that. All normals. Some normals are lighter, some are darker.

I emailed Vin Russo and here was his reply:

Its hard to tell from those pictures but it may be a Burgandy.
Vin Russo

Then I emailed Vin back with the following:

Thank you Vin for taking the time to email me back. How can I prove for sure if she is burgundy or not? I would really like to know. She is 3 or 4 years old and I would like to breed her to a suitable male. Thank you again for your time!

And the reply I got was:

The only way to prove any Ball Python trait is by breeding it and then breeding it back to its offspring and producing that trait.
So you have a few ( about 3-4 ) years before you will know.
Good luck,
Vin Russo

So what I want to do now is find an old enough male to breed her to this spring and go from there.

Males breed at like 6-8 months and 800g, so I don't think that it will be too difficult a task. At least, it shouldn't be.

I live in Scottsbluff, Nebraska so everything is a difficult task out here LOL

I'm with Jeff. We have a male with the same colouration.
