Ok so I fed my retic for the first time on thursday and I fed him in his cage....he's on cypres..today I went to feed him in another container and he didnt even look at the food. I put him BACK in his cage and he jumped on it no problem so then i moved him to an outer container...

is it better to feed in house or move to seperate container? thanks...

a lot of people will argue with this, but IMO a retic should always be fed in cage! When that thing is 20ft long, are you going to try and move it to another enclosure for feeding when the smell of rat/rabbit is in the air? If so, good luck with that!

I feed ALL of my snakes, including neonates, in cage. I've never had a problem.

IMO Kristina is dead on the money. I always have fed my snakes in their cages. My retic and burms are agressive feeders. It would be pretty hairy moving my 14ft albino burm when she is in feeding mode.

Definitely a safety issue if you start moving your snake around, as everyone already mentioned. If you are worried about him eating substrate, you can change substrates or just place a large piece of cardboard or something down prior to feeding (before you have prey in the room so you don't increase the chances of your snake mistaking you for food).
