The Columbian red tailed that I have is getting close to 8 feet.The guy I got it from said he thought it was a female.I am not so sure only because he did not sound so sure.I would like to be able to tell just for my own curiosity and well you never know.Any help greatly appreciated.

you would like to know how to sex it? u can probes! and i'm guessing it's too old to be popped...

I would not want to probe a snake that size. Even a babies they can get a little nasty when you probe them. I would do a visual sexing even though it is not 100% accurate. Short and stubby tail= female. Long and thin tail= male.

or just at mating seasion put said snake with a definate female and or a definate male and she which one it takes to. Hopefully you dont have a gay snake LoL
ABout the whole tail thing, I thought it was the exact opposite? Well, if your right (which im sure you are) I have a male!!!!

There is nothing wrong with probing BCI at any age. It is the safest method of sexing these animals and others.
Some snakes are sensitive to probes or popping, you just have to know what you're doing.

Its a two person job if the snake is a little nasty, but it shouldn't be hard. But at 8 feet, I trained eye could totally tell by the tail structure if its a male or female. Post a pic. There's enough BCI enthusiasts here that could visually sex that snake!
