I just picked up this little girl from the Florida International Reptile Expo. I was planning to get a borneo STP, but this girl just called out to me. I was warned about bloods being very nippy when neonates, but Ember is an absolute doll! She didn't even try to tag the guy that sexed her. I am looking forward to watching her grow :D

Beautiful blood. I love it when they are tame and non-nippy. I'm starting to see it more and more, so I'm beginning to believe that they have an undue bad reputation.

thanks guys!
I agree Invictus. The guy that I got her from said that they don't handle their snakes at all, mainly because they have something over 3,000 animals. For a snake that has never been handled, she is a really sweet girl! I hate that these snakes have a bad rep..because all the ones that I have come in contact with have been lovely.
Nice little girl you got there, good to hear she is friendly. I would like to get one someday. Keep us posted on how she is doing. Oh-ya how big are they when they are babies, I have never seen a baby before only the big sucker at the drumhellar reptile zoo, and she was huge.

foman, baby bloods are usually about 11-15 inches long when neonates. Mine is about 11.5 inches long right now.
Congrats on the new addition! :D

Their bad rep stems from all the WC adults that were imported in the past. They are definitely more sensitive than many other species, but captive bred and even captive hatched individuals are often very manageable. For the most part they just complain a lot :p

Congratulations on your new addition, she's really beautiful. In my experiences so far, bloods have been quite tame with me. I agree with Inivctus, I'm starting to feel that they have an undue bad reputation.
She's awesome Kristina!!! I had the same luck with my borneo. Since the day I got him two years ago he has never hissed or tried to strike. Good luck with her.
