View Full Version : Biggest!
I am just curious who has the biggest BP on the forum...
I recently aquired a quite large one...and will post measurements, and pictures within the next day or two.
So let us know how big yours is, and a pic would be bodacious!
I should probably mention that the one I acuired takes large rats.
:)
mine is small. 3 1/2 feet. And he is pretty much maxed out at that size. He is at least 6 years old. He takes jumbo rats. Hes my little piggy.
My biggest ball is an eight year old male, about 48-50 inches (4 feet) and weighs about 1760 grams on a pretty much empty tummy. :) He eats jumbo rats or 2 medium rats every 8-10 days. These guys are *big* piggy's I tell you!

Good god, jumbo rats?! 48-50"?!
That's enormous!

My bp is about 3.5-4 ft. Weighs about 3 pounds and takes large rats at the moment (when he decides to eat)
I have a question; what do you guys consider jumbo rats? I mean, on all the big sites, we have jumbo rats described as being in and around the 300+ range. You guys feed your 3-4 foot balls 300+g rats?

If you have a Bp that can take a 300+ g rat then you better keep the cat away from it. I mean holy!!!!!
Not Jumbo, sorry, just large (at least, larger than a medium rat) ::my mistake:: I was reading the other post above me and mixed 'jumbo' with what I was typing..:) No I don't feed him cat-sized meals :)
My little one a bit over 3 feet at about 10 months of age takes a jumbo rat now and then, what's wrong with that?

Large rats I can see. 300 g is over a half lb. Math anyone??????
Andy; a ten month old male ball, if taking 'jumbo' rats IS probably rather obese and possibly unhealthy. I had some pretty big 10 month old females and they were taking rats that were in and around 150g. I can't even imagine a 10 month old ball, (unless of course, it's on a growth hormone), even being able to take a rat that large. Next, it's quite obvious that you're trying to get your ball as big as possible as fast as possible. Why not feed it 2 or 3 smaller items? They are digested quicker, and the snake is ready for another meal sooner, hence, they gain more weight, without the extra strain of having to digest a HUGE meal. Love to know the weight of this 10 month old MALE bp.
Reptyle: 454 grams in a pound.

I have a number of females here that will eat jumbo rats (600g+ rats). These females are all in around 4000g's or bigger. I know people have larger balls than that though.

Firstly Mykee, it is a FEMALE. I didn't get why you thought it was a male?
They may be large adults, but they were sold to me as jumbos. I will post a pic of a rat and a pic of the ball. I usually feed her one small adult a week but once in a while she gets this either large/jumbo rat. In my original post I simply stated that she can take the large/jumbo rat. She DOES NOT get them as a meal very often.
Why not feed it smaller food items? It is cheaper to feed one large item than two small item, and more meat and less fur with one large item than multiple small items that's why I don't feed it two or three small food items. You may have a different opinion on that but that's ok with me, every man to their own. If you think that larger meals are bad for the snakes better give Jeff Favelle and Invictus shyte because I feed similar to what they do lol.
One last note. I don't care how fast she grows and I do appreciate your information from experience as now I think she is definitely older than 10 months old and not obese to my knowledge.
Here is a pic of the rat.
Another.
She look obese to you?
I do not have a scale but I would estimate that she weighs around two pounds.

she doesn't look obese to me at all.
I think she looks great! If what you are feeding her is working ( and I would say it is) why change?
Hay, not obese there, and that rat is fu***** HUGE!! I agree with the way that Jeff feeds his snakes, they're the biggest I've seen in any age category, and they're all super healthy. I breed my own rats, so I tend to feed a few smaller items for those that will take them. Those snakes seem to grow faster. Good work though, keep it up.
not obese at all man thats just a real BP right there
My big male is not by far the largest BP, but he is pretty big for a male at 4.5' :D I don't have a doubt in my mind that his momma is the largest here though :p
